Hello. I purchased this item over a year ago from an online auction. I was not a member of this purse forum site at the time, so I did not have the item authenticated. I have listed the item's name, style number and pics below. I do not know how to post more than 10 pics per post, so I will send additional 5 pics in next post. I am thinking about selling this item, but wanted to verify that it is authentic before doing so. Thank you for your help!

Item Name: Coach Mia Patent Leather Cranberry
Style #: F15734

It's a genuine Legacy Satchel from 1999. Sorry, I don't have any other information.

Thank You, I guess that seemed like a simple question but from different posts Ive read but wasn't sure. I am just not sure what "legacy" means, by this I am not sure if "legacy" refers to the lining or a time period or ? I really am learning this all on my own, that and reading on here. I THOUGHT it was a Legacy but wanted to be sure and didnt know the year either. Thank You for taking the time to answer what might have seemed like a very simple quesion

Not necessarily looking to authenticate this one fully, as i have no intention to purchase - its pretty ugly imo - but wondering more for my own education. This doesn't look at all like something Coach would produce. Am I just a newbie and this really was released, or am I looking at a horrible fake?

Thank you! When they first came out with that monstrosity I had to check the calendar to see if it was April Fool's Day. That's on my list of the Top 5 Ugliest Bags Coach has ever made.

Unfortunately, it's probably genuine - 17144 Rhinestone Tote. I don't think even professional fakes makers wanted to be associated with something like that.

(My apologies to anyone who has one and loves it, but once in a while we authenticators have to be allowed to say what we think too! :D )
I have to agree with both you and Hyacinth as far as not being among their better styles.

Here are several more of the same bags.

Thank you so much BeenBurned and Hyacinth! I will def stay away!..
You're welcome.

"Legacy" like all Coach's other terms and names, means only what they want it to mean at that particular time. Not counting the upcoming Fall bags there have probably been at least 4 "Legacy" lines. They seem to mean several things - a tribute to a previous bag, like the Rambler's Legacy Bag being an update of the older Rambler, or a new lining or type of classic-style leather like the 65th Anniversary bags most of us think of as Legacy.

There were also lines where there wasn't any obvious connection to anything older and Coach just seemed to have pulled the name out of a hat, like bags from around 2000-2001 that vaguely echoed older Cashin designs like a rolled satchel or the Crescent style, and some styles from a few years later 2003-2004 with soft thin leathers (Legacy Soft...), or the Legacy West bags from 2001-2002.

And then there are the "Name" Legacys that Coach created in 1994 as a tribute to some of their older customers. Relatives had sent in stories about how family members had loved and used specific vintage Coach styles, and variations of that style were created as a tribute, like Helen's (Helen Berg) Legacy for a lady whose descendents sent stories about her Duffle Sac, etc. I've posted a few of them below. Unfortunately Coach never saw fit to post the stories.

So there's NO one single Legacy and no sacred Holy-Grail meaning to the word, regardless of what the lovers of the 65th Anniversary bags seem to think. There are some great styles and interesting stories that we'll probably never hear, but basically it's just a name. If Coach wants to use it to increase the value of a new line in the eyes of their customers like they seem to be doing with the upcoming Fall line, there's nothing and no one to say they can't.

I looked through the posts about invalid/often faked serial numbers, and didn't see this one on there...here's to hoping this bag's authentic!
