Having the little metal tag DOESN'T prove that a keychain is genuine! If crooks can copy the charms, they can copy the little tags too. There's nothing, no individual tag or patch or number or zipper or piece of paper, that proves ANY Coach (or any other trademarked brand) is genuine. The proof is in the item itself, in construction details and lack of small mistakes.

Anything a maker can make, a faker can fake. Never forget that.

And if you see that seller listing any more keychains or "Coach" items, please post the listing links here so we can check them. Thanks!

Not all authentic Coach keychains have lozenges either. That's not a determining factor.

Thanks ladies..thats so true..if they can go through the troubles of making all that...they can easily make that little coach tag...im not too familiar with all coach key fobs so thought Id double check..i will flag it and keep an eye out...she said she has sunglasses and such so will check for that...Thanks so much for such great info.

Thank you. It is a copy of a Peyton carryall #14522 from 2009, which had polka dot lining but now I am thinking that the dots were beige not pink.

OK, now I see a real one with the dots. The lining in the fake has more of a cheap shiny acetate look, and you can read the creed on the genuine one. The fake's serial number looks like it has an "N" almost in the middle of the serial number so the prefix almost looks like "H8N-" and the creed says the bag was made in the United States. The crooks didn't even try to get that part right, I guess they figured it didn't matter as long as no one could read the creed.

I knew it was fake but I should have looked closer. All these details that were wrong I missed.

I need authentication on this bag please.

1. Coach Ashley Patent Leather Green
2. Item #320877804359
3. keri533
4. http://www.ebay.com/itm/320877804359?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
5. Seller supplied Creed # M1049-F15455, and stated it has beige satin lining.

I am a little in love with this bag and would like to know if it's the real thing before I purchase it. Thank you!

Never mind...someone bought it. *sob*
If it makes you feel any better, we would have asked for more pictures before authenticating anyway. There's no way to authenticate a bag with one picture.

Knowing the serial number doesn't help because the fakers can and do use legitimate numbers on fakes.

Thank you BB, it does makes me feel better! It was so pretty but I just wasn't sure... :-)

Measurements can vary also, depending on where the measurement was taken, whether the bag is stuffed or not, whether it's stretched flat from corner to corner, etc.

The seller described the bag as 14" x 9" x 3" which is even slightly smaller than Coach did it. Often, Coach's measurements are more generous than the items are IRL.

Coach describes the measurements as 14.5" x 10" x 3" so if you think it's small based on your seller's measurements, you'd have been even more disappointed if you purchased from Coach!

Sometimes, it's necessary to make a template to get a feel for the size of the bag.

As for the color difference, it looks like the seller used a flash and the professionally photographed Coach picture probably used whatever room/area lighting that photographers use.

I still don't see any problems. Perhaps someone with the same bag and same color might comment:

There are color variations in some purses. I recently purchased a few Navy Leather Maggie purses and found that they were slightly different shades. One was the regular deep navy and the other shade was a brighter blue. The sales lady said they were both navy and it was just the variation in the leather.

I am looking for a Patricia bag and came across the following listing but the serial no. #9952 is the same as my bucket drawstring purse. Is this a fake?

Item number: 190658232560
Seller: azg7777
Listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-PATRI...560?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item2c641dc0f0

I'm seeing 9951 in the serial number, not 9952.

If it HAD read 9952, that's still not enough proof that it's fake. Sometimes Coach employees made mistakes stamping serial numbers.
