Sorry but it's fake. Can you return it to whoever sold it to you?

Comments: another thrift store find, just want confirmation that it is indeed fake, as it has no numbers.

Thanks!

Coach definitely DID make bags with NO serial numbers, though I believe it was for a short time. I was also under the impression that the "no serial number" bags happened in the later 1970's.

Wait for Hyacinth to comment on that one, since the Station Bag was introduced in 1983 (As far as I know).

I don't want to declare a vintage bag fake just because it doesn't have a number, there have been a lot of mistakes on older bags and the rest of it seems to be ok although it would be good to find someone with a mid-1980s Station Bag/Shoulder Pouch who could take a closer look. It's also possible that the serial number was very lightly stamped and has just worn off.

I wouldn't recommend selling it but rehabbing or using it yourself seems like a possibility.

Thank you for the quick reply! So it's possible, given that the year this bag was made was 1999? This seems like an unusual color. I believe it's only the second one I've seen in this white color. Have you seen Stewardesses come in colors outside of black, tan, dark brown before?

They've also come in Red.

Authentication Experts:

I was trying to write up some info to help a newbie understand MFF vs FP and FP delete bags and I got a little carried away! I wound posting a new thread with photos in the Reference Library called Guide for Coach Product Grades and Markings (see link below.)

Please feel free to post any corrections or additions, thanks!

Good information, although I'm not sure about the various department store codes. To actually use the first letter of the store name just seems too logical. And Coach is seldom logical. And maybe they changed colors but the lettering and drawstrings on my outlet dustbags for keychains were usually red.

Nice job!

I just remembered, the small outlet dustbags with the brown letters and strings are from the Men's Outlet. You are right, the regular outlet uses red letters and strings.

I did some research and found references to N and M codes for Nordstrom and Macy Department Store exclusives, but perhaps those were incorrect assumptions?

Thanks for your feedback!

I've seen bags as Macy's with M codes also.

I've seen Z mentioned as both Nordies and TJ Maxx, and W for Hudson's which I'm assuming is the old Hudson's Bay. The only Ns I remember are those old Nordie Ns that were in some sort of brackets. But I never shop at any of those stores except for TJ so I've only just seen the ones on Ebay.
The "Z" bags I've seen have been at discounters, i.e., Nordstroms Rack, TJ Maxx, and prior to its recent demise, Filene's Basement. I've never seen a Z at a full priced department store.

Hudson's may have been one of the stores that joined to form Dayton-Hudson dept stores, who were then bought by Marshall Fields who were bought out by Macy's. Dayton-Hudson was the parent corporation of Target.

I thought about that. But these store or retailer letters are pretty recent, just in the last year or two, and Dayton-Hudson was sold maybe 10 years ago at least. Also, the poster who mentioned seeing a W in a bag from Hudson's lives in Canada, so I'm assuming she means Hudson's Bay Company that everyone in Canada just calls Hudson's now. The post was just made here at tPF in the last few months.
