It's a Cashin design. Not sure of the exact name...maybe "Double Kisslock"..."Swinger"..."Double Entry"? (I have the same bag, but it has metal chain straps).

I'm not sure that Coach repairs anything anymore. The people working there now probably wouldn't recognize the name Bonnie Cashin. Maybe someone else can help, depending on what repairs need to be made.

thank you for time

Third times a charm?

first thanks to everyone for sharing their knowledge.

Comments: Is it genuine?

Got this bag last spring at a thrift store. Went to a Coach boutique and was told the number format was wrong. Started reading here, and found out some things.

From what I've gathered here the lining matches that of the Sonoma line, but the leather isn't pebbled. Also, there is this odd "donated" stamp on the creed.

Hopefully this will work...

(crossing fingers):smile1:

I'll be darned - I don't think I've ever seen it before. But whatever it is, the "donated" stamp makes me think it's genuine. Either the stores or Coach corporate used those for items that were donated to non-profits. As for what someone at a Coach store said about the number format, they're completely wrong, that format (number and arragngement of serial number digits) was used from 1994 through 2003. I really wish they'd either give their employees a little basic training about Coach history or just instruct them to shut up and play dumb if they don't know the answer.

Speculation time - the bag is probably from the Flatiron line. It's a bit earlier than the actual release of those styles but it could be a pilot or pre-production bag, which could explain why it was donated (they often were sold to employees too). The Flatirons I have records of had the style numbers next in sequence with smooth leathers and the striped Sonoma linings - Coach apparently had a lot of that fabric to get rid of and used it in about half a dozen other styles. There have also been a few apparently genuine Flarirons with standard linings so there are still a few question marks. The other Flatirons had a unique shoulder strap but since this is a Tote it's a bit harder to connect them. But here are listings for other Flatiron styles:

So let's call it a Flatiron Tote with a question mark. ;)

Yes ma'am! Definitely :smile1: I actually have a few more of that same swingpack and am happy to know that they are indeed genuine. Thanks again to you and Hyacinth!

You're welcome! I'm glad we were finally able to figure everything out! :smile1:

Woot! The donated stamp made me keep looking because it just seemed like a weird thing to fake, as it draws attention.

BeenBurned, yea, I learned that lesson lol.

Hyacinth, I wondered about the flatiron family too, but the strap threw me completely. I assume it came with a crossbody strap, but it works great as a tote. Amost time to break it out for spring again.

thanks so much.

And um, I've put the fakes list on my phone's notepad and refer to it while shopping. :blushing:

It looks ok.

There was always a little variation in fonts, creeds and numbers since each plant had its own stamp.

Thank you! It threw me since it's not the usual skinnier font I'm used to seeing on many bags, and the first 3 characters run into the "No". But I have seen this thicker font for the serial number on a few bags online, though I had no idea if they were real.

can anyone please tell me if this is a fake or not? it has "coach on the inside zipper, no serial # but from what ive read, some smaller purses and swingbacks dont always have the #. The coach creed is embossed into the leather also. Thanks in advance!!

Hi! This auction already ended a while ago, but I was curious if this color was made in this style. I'm considering contacting the seller if it's authentic.

A lot of times it's hard to answer questions about colors and availabilty if the right catalogs aren't available, but White was a Spring and Summer 1999 color.

VERY fake. That inside zipper pull was never used or made by Coach, the C pattern lining in the pocket is fake and the pocket lining should be the same as the rest, and that selection and arrangement of patches was never used in any genuine bag. The creed stitiching is really sloppy and if this is a full-size handbag there should always be a serial number on the creed. The hardware looks cheaply made and so does the leather strap.

Do you own this or is it for sale somewhere? In the future, we need all requests made for authentication to use the format shown in Post 1 of this thread.

Hi,

I'd appreciate if somebody could authenticate Coach thrift store find yesterday. The pics are in the attached photobucket link. If more pics are needed, please let me know.

Also, can somebody tell me when it was made? Serial is B3B 9927

Thanks in advance!

It looks ok. The serial number shows it was made in 2003.

Thank you for the quick reply! So it's possible, given that the year this bag was made was 1999? This seems like an unusual color. I believe it's only the second one I've seen in this white color. Have you seen Stewardesses come in colors outside of black, tan, dark brown before?
