Hyacinth, you don't know it but you really saved me yesterday! Ever since I recently bought that convincingly fake tan Willis bag I have taken your advice to heart and printed out all 7 pages of your excellent information on fake numbers. I have been carrying it with me, and referring to it, while I am looking at Coach bags in thrift stores.

Last night in the SA thrift store one of the "expensive bags" on the rack behind the counter caught my eye and I asked to look at it. It was a white pebble leather satchel and inside was a matching checkbook wallet. The bag and wallet were pretty clean and the SA store was only asking $25 for both pieces.

Something about the bag seemed wrong but I wasn't sure what it was. Actually, the leather felt wrong. It was leather but just not Coach leather. I spend a lot of time rubbing Coach bags during my rehab projects and it just didn't feel right to me - but Coach has used different kinds of leather over the years.

The creed patch looked correct and the style number was M04K 5659 so I got out your notes and started scanning for that number. Thank you for bolding all the numbers, it makes it much easier to speed-read in the store!

I was feeling pretty good that the number didn't show up in the long lists of fake numbers but then I found it! At the top of page 5 the notes said:

"The counterfeiters also use many legitimate-looking serial numbers but on the wrong style bags or accessories, like:
-5659 which should only be on a Scribble Tote, about 11x7 with bright multicolor Cs"

This bag was marked 5659 but it sure wasn't a scribble tote. I gratefully put it back and thought many goodd thoughts about you, especially since the SA will not accept returns or exchanges.

I was able to exchange the fake tan willis at the Savers. I got that adorable, authentic, little red Girlie Nappa Clip Hobo instead!

Thanks again for all you do, it really makes a difference!

Thanks, I'm glad you saved yourself from buying a fake by checking my list! There are a lot of numbers to wade through, but it's worth the effort when your own instincts and experience can combine with my collected numbers to warn you when something isn't right.

And I want to return the thanks - you've done an amazing job here in teaching so many of us about rescuing and caring for our well-loved leather Coaches. Your recommendations about cleaning methods and leather care products are worth their weight in gold and have helped many of us bring a basket case back to life. BIG (((HUGS))) all around! :ty:

Item: Multi-colored, Scribble C scarf (date? style number?)
Seller: Savers $4.50
Dimensions: 58” long and 9” wide (it may be bigger without all the wrinkles)

Comments: This scarf looks genuine to me but I only have 1 silk coach scarf so I would appreciate your opinion. I was concerned because the tag says "Made in China, Printed in Korea" is that typical for Coach scarves?

There are also some numbers on the tag, they look like RN26128 and CA22608, does that mean anything? The tag in my ponytail silk scarf doesn't have any numbers or mention of Korea and the same is true for my cashmere muffler.

If it is genuine I would also appreciate rehab advice. It says “100% Silk Dry Clean Only” and I am happy to take it to the cleaners, but it has a few spots and marks and I don’t know if I should try to hand-wash it first, or spot-clean it? It feels like genuine silk to me, not nylon or rayon.

Thanks for your help!
The scarf is authentic. I've had scarves with Korea. Some textile items are printed in Korea.

I can't upload a picture to an edit so I'm "responding" to add a picture of the tag on a scarf I own that was printed in Korea:

Check the measurements - it's the smaller Pouch version of the same bag, and it's genuine.

Bags from around 2006 to the present with 5-digit style numbers starting with "4****" are considered accessories, not handbags, and are smaller and less embellished than their larger cousins. Some won't have creed patches or serial numbers either. They're usually Pouches, Demis, Swing Packs, Cosmetic Cases, Crossbody bags, etc.

Wow, I'm really flattered, thank you so much!

This is in general reference to model: "coach signature chelsea reptile wallet"

We received the following wallet in a bulk store return purchase. After looking around I see several of this exact same wallet listed on ebay. We previously discussed this carriage emblem and found it to not be consistent with any coach products. Can any of you ladies please verify my assumption that this wallet is fake? Thanks for your help!

Please wait for other opinions but although that plaque is odd-looking as is the font but it seems to match this plaque from the listing of a trusted seller:
