Thank you both. I will avoid this seller. Just trying to find a Sophia purse because my baby's name is Sophia. :D

I'll let someone else comment on authenticity, but I wouldn't believe a WORD of anything that seller says.

She's selling what she claims is a "Coach Legacy Keyfob" but all she's done is butchered a complete keychain to sell the individual charms off piece by piece. Not only is it deceptive, it's also a violation of trademark laws to list some thing as being a "Coach" when Coach is NOT the final manufacturer, and all the buyer is getting is one charm instead of the complete keychain. She's selling just a clip (not even from the same keychain!)

and one small Purse charm from this style 92946 - I'll also post a pic of her keychain in case the original listing disappears. BTW, there's a COMPLETE one listed on Ebay for only 3 times the price of the one charm (Not my auction!)

Good morning! I was hoping someone could check out this item, if possible:

Item: Camden leather and canvas crossbody (F70417)
Listing number: 150758833889
Seller: coachjustyou
Link: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/COACH-SIGNAT...9?pt=US_CSA_MWA_Backpacks&hash=item2319ed3ee1
Comments: I tried looking it up with the drilldown, but couldn't get a match. Thinking I might have just been having an issue with the colour code, I tried BK for the black version that I also saw listed. That didn't produce anything either. I may also just be really bad at figuring out the drilldown :D

Many thanks!

Item: Coach Vintage Helen's Legacy 9953

Listing No: 140723570542

Seller: Grandmoms Attic Etc.

Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/140723570542?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

Comments: I believe this to be authentic, I know you've authenticated these (style 9953) before but after almost being ripped off $350, am so scared now and want to make sure the plant code and year code are right. Thanks for eveything, I thought I knew Coach - I don't - and after reading your many guides on Ebay, I am finding there are sooo many fakes listed. Many thanks again.

It's genuine. :smile1:

It's genuine. In fact there are at least a dozen others listed on Ebay.

OMG. someone else won the item at a completely higher price than what I put in.

And I just had the seller reply me to say that she said she doesn't know if it's real...but I did not see that mentioned in her auction listing. Oh well, seems like she knew what she was doing then. :S

Of course she did - if she'd said she didn't know it was real right in the listing it would have been removed as soon as someone reported it. The listing has been removed, let's hope Ebay pulled it and contacted the buyer before she had a chance to pay.

I'm advising everyone reading this - DO NOT BUY FROM alexaabrookeee12

Item: Coach "Cashin-era" Tan Bag (circa 1960s or early 1970s?, style number ?)
Seller: Salvation Army $2.06
Dimensions: 8” wide, 5.5” high, 3” deep (across the bottom)

Comments: I was so excited to find this bag at the SA last night and I hope that you are going to tell me that it is genuine! I have never seen one of these “pre-creed bags” before but it looked just like pictures I’ve seen.

I will post more photos with the next message. Anything you can tell me about the bag will be greatly appreciated. Do you know if it was a Cashin design or just made during her era at Coach?

I am also interested in rehab advice. The bag is in pretty good shape for its age but it is dirty and musty-smelling and the biggest problem is that the leather and lining have started to slip out of the frame near the kisslock. I'd be grateful for any tips!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Here are more pics of the little tan Cashin-era bag. There was a cloth Saks Fifth Avenue tag in the bag, too.

Item: Multi-colored, Scribble C scarf (date? style number?)
Seller: Savers $4.50
Dimensions: 58” long and 9” wide (it may be bigger without all the wrinkles)

Comments: This scarf looks genuine to me but I only have 1 silk coach scarf so I would appreciate your opinion. I was concerned because the tag says "Made in China, Printed in Korea" is that typical for Coach scarves?

There are also some numbers on the tag, they look like RN26128 and CA22608, does that mean anything? The tag in my ponytail silk scarf doesn't have any numbers or mention of Korea and the same is true for my cashmere muffler.

If it is genuine I would also appreciate rehab advice. It says “100% Silk Dry Clean Only” and I am happy to take it to the cleaners, but it has a few spots and marks and I don’t know if I should try to hand-wash it first, or spot-clean it? It feels like genuine silk to me, not nylon or rayon.

Thanks for your help!

I used to know the name of that little bag, but I just can't remember right now. If I do, I'll let you know.

It's definitely a Cashin design - the same bag is shown on the BCF website. Click on History, Timeline and then the year 1960 and you will see the same one in black.

I wish I had some advice about rehab. I wonder if a cobbler could push the leather back into the kisslock metal frame? I just don't know.

As to cleaning - I have never attempted a bath for a bag with the striped lining.

Very nice bag. I hope someone has some good advice for you.

:smile1:

Hyacinth, you don't know it but you really saved me yesterday! Ever since I recently bought that convincingly fake tan Willis bag I have taken your advice to heart and printed out all 7 pages of your excellent information on fake numbers. I have been carrying it with me, and referring to it, while I am looking at Coach bags in thrift stores.

Last night in the SA thrift store one of the "expensive bags" on the rack behind the counter caught my eye and I asked to look at it. It was a white pebble leather satchel and inside was a matching checkbook wallet. The bag and wallet were pretty clean and the SA store was only asking $25 for both pieces.

Something about the bag seemed wrong but I wasn't sure what it was. Actually, the leather felt wrong. It was leather but just not Coach leather. I spend a lot of time rubbing Coach bags during my rehab projects and it just didn't feel right to me - but Coach has used different kinds of leather over the years.

The creed patch looked correct and the style number was M04K 5659 so I got out your notes and started scanning for that number. Thank you for bolding all the numbers, it makes it much easier to speed-read in the store!

I was feeling pretty good that the number didn't show up in the long lists of fake numbers but then I found it! At the top of page 5 the notes said:

"The counterfeiters also use many legitimate-looking serial numbers but on the wrong style bags or accessories, like:
-5659 which should only be on a Scribble Tote, about 11x7 with bright multicolor Cs"

This bag was marked 5659 but it sure wasn't a scribble tote. I gratefully put it back and thought many goodd thoughts about you, especially since the SA will not accept returns or exchanges.

I was able to exchange the fake tan willis at the Savers. I got that adorable, authentic, little red Girlie Nappa Clip Hobo instead!

Thanks again for all you do, it really makes a difference!

Thanks so much, that's terrific news! I will probably take it to the cobbler for an opinion anyway, I would hate to damage the frame trying to fix it myself.

I will probably try to surface clean it first because I don't want to damage it by washing.

I am so excited, I always wanted a genuine Coach Cashin bag but every time I hunt for them on ebay or bonz they are always so expensive - or they are not actually Cashin designed bags!

I will check out the BCF site, thanks for the reference.

I'm doing the happy dance right now! :happydance:
