Gorgeous bag! You should try taking it to the local Coach boutique and ask if they have an extra hangtag that would look good on it. They probably won't have genuine alligator but they may have another nice option.

I recently brought a bag to the boutique because I had lost the hangtag which was extra large and shiny silver and they pulled out a big box of hangtags and found a nice replacement for me. It was free and the SA was really nice about it. But if you do go to the boutique, don't mention ebay - they hate ebay! Say that you received the bag from a relative or something. Good luck!

BTW, the hangtag that came with your bag is identical to the one on my Wool and Lamb Nappa Girlie Hobo that is also from 2001, see link below:

Thanks for the tip Katev...unfortunately I kind of have a feeling I'd be a "persona non-grata" (unwelcomed) at the boutique since I've been banned.... I also have a dark grey wool girlie hobo similar to your houndstooth that has that same black metal hangtag so I guess the seller had a similar bag she took it from to give me for this alligator tote. If nothing else, I do have a larger all-silver one I could stick on her.

I thought 2001 sounded more logical , but didn't see "01" so wrongly assumed 1991.
Dem Ram-
I just measured the bag, and it IS 10x10x 4, so glad to get a name to go with it!

Been Burned- I just did a search online and there was a similar tote (only larger) posted by a blogger who won it at a silent auction and hers shows the hangtag which is the same color(and in Alligator) as the bag (pic attached) , so guessing this was probably the case with this bag as well.....Too bad the original to this one went missing (as well as the cool looking dustbag that it appears to have originally come with (based on the bloggers pic of hers), Oh well, she's missing a few parts, but I still love her!
Thank you both for your help!
Based on DemRam's comment, it sounds like you got a great deal. Enjoy it.

I was going to PM you to let you know that this hangtag is probably the same (maybe different color) as the one that was original to your red bag.

It was listed on Ebay

Again, thank you so much!

NEVER believe what a seller says, believe the evidence of your eyes. Did you notice how crooked the C pattern is on the left half of the flap? A company with Coach's reputation would never make something that badly. You find better fabric alignment at KMart.

Please always ask here before bidding, no matter what assurances the seller gives you that something's genuine. There are literally hundreds of thousands of fake Coaches (and items from every major name brand known to mankind, for that matter) in circulation, and no one should ever buy anything without taking steps to find out if it's real. Paying attention to the quality of the item is the first step, then authenticate it at a dependable website like tPF or at Ebay's own Community Discusion Groups. No one ever needs to get ripped off if they just take a few simple steps before bidding or buying.

Both look ok. The top one was made in 2000 and the second in 1995.

So very true, and I will never make that mistake again! And thank you so much for your assistance & knowledge. As they say, live and learn. I cannot even get the seller to reply to my emails, and may have to contact Ebay about this item to see if they can do anything about it. Thank you, again.
