Comments: This bag was "authenticated" on the ebay purse board, but I have my doubts.

The person asking for authentication has some valid points: The strap attachment doesn't look right. The stitching on the back loops doesn't look right. I'm not sure about the creed?

I'm just not familiar enough with that style to comment.

:smile1:

Looks like someone was.

And here's a listing for a REAL one from the same year:

And I guess the fakers didn't get the Snap Lock right either - or they had the right hardware for the wrong year.

The most recent one I can find in a catalog is in the "Source Book" from Spring 1997. I also own one from 1994. Here's what I'm seeing - I'll refer to the one in the listing as "the fake":

The Snap Lock on the fake is too far from the edge of the flap, the brass base should be within 1/4 inch of the piping

The stitches all around the bag are too long and the edging on the pocket right underneath the flap is badly done and has way too much extra leather under the stitching

The stitching on the leather strips holding the D-rings on the back is completely wrong - in fact the ends arewn't even finished off. And there's no stitching at all along the edges on the fake.

There shouldn't be a center seam on the bottom

I can't find the strap for mine so can't make any comparisons there with mine but from the catlog photos (1993 and 1997) the strap is completely wrong, not only are the rivets WAY too big but the strap shouldn't have rivets at all.

The ONLY thing the fakers got right was the Snap Lock.

Looks like someone was.

I wonder if plentyofpurses has been made aware that her bag is fake.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend a seller (redice5528) who isn't honest about her item(s).

First off, there's no way to authenticate a bag with just one blurry picture! And tags and cards don't prove authenticity.

Secondly, she's lying about the bag not being a MFF item and where she purchased it. It's MFF as the attached picture below shows. The F in front of the style number indicates that it's a made for factory bag.

I told her the purses were MFF and she got all huffy, but then sent me a message that she removed her listings just for me, and relisted them with the proper information and more pictures.
The only reason I contacted her in the first place because she said there was a card that proved it was a FP, not MFF bag, and I wanted to see if there really was such a thing. There isn't.
Thanks a bunch for your help.
