I'm not feeling the love for that bag but the pictures are awful. Without knowing the style, I'd want to see a full creed picture.

The bag in the link you posted, is for sure not real

This bag is definitely fake. Definitely.
You're all correct. The plaque is way too low on the front and the "leather" isn't leather. The plaque has the wrong font and I'm not sure what style it's trying to be.

Hopefully, it'll be reported and removed before a buyer spends over $100 for it.

what does it mean by "tumbled leather?"
is it any different than other ergos?

item name: COACH Black Tumbled Leather Large ERGO Hobo Shoulderbag *Authentic #FO53-9848

seller id: suite-stuff-shopper ( Feedback Score Of 2719)

The seller can't even get the style and serial number right. The serial and style number in the title is for a completely different bag. The correct style number is 11615. I can't find another photo in my files but the bag looks genuine.

Pebbled leather was usually described as "tumbled" on older Coach creeds.

The seller is really careless in her listings.

The title is a result of a "sell similar" that she probably posted after this one and forgot to edit the title:

That listing and this one show a mix of pictures from both bags in both listings:

(The letter “i” was avoided because it was too easy to confuse it with the number 1.) The second digit, always a number, was the year the bag was made. Since the new formatting began in 1994, “4” was the first year code used, and single digits would continue to be used for a decade - “0” for the year 2000, “3” for 2003, etc. In 2004 a Zero was added to differentiate between 1994 and 2004 and to match the actual year abbreviation, and that continues to the present with the Zero changing to a One in 2010 so that the code for 2010 is “10”. The year code is still the 2 center digits in the first half of the serial number.

The third or last digit was the plant code, originally a letter of the alphabet but with the expansion to Turkey, China and beyond, Coach ran out of letters and began using single numbers. Since the original New York City plant was closed before the new codes began, there should never be any number with an “A” code. “B, C and D” stood for the US plants that took over from the NYC plant..."

:smile1:

A lot of classic leather fakes were surprisingly well made and lasted a reasonably long time. But it looks like whoever owned this gave it to her dog to play with.

Do you think I should report it?

Yes, please Report - "Fake serial number with wrong style number and invalid plant code"

In addition to the auction, she's posted the photobucket link for more pics of the actual bag. http://s1064.photobucket.com/albums/u370/ebaylola/
It appears to be okay but as a new seller, she should know that it's better to post the HTML embedded pictures directly into the listing rather than using a stolen stock photo and a link to photobucket. Many buyers don't like to click on links since they worry about viruses, plus, it's easier for buyers to see the pictures when they're right there in the listing.
