even better news! My friend who is the senior analyst of wholesale operations for coach in NYC is going to take the photos in with her tomorrow to work. She's worked for Coach for roughly 9 years now. If she doesn't know, I'm not sure who will! lol

Sorry, I don't have any photos of that style. I do have some of the Gathered Leather Sophia #15942 from the same plant although almost a year later, and the creed and Carriage logos seem to be a very good match. That's not a solid authentication though.

Unfortunately, the person contacted me through my craig's list ad stating that I am looking to buy Coach bags locally. They said they had one and when they sent the photos I had a mini heart-attack lol. If they had a sale ad up, I am unaware of it. I will look now and get back to you.

I have many coach bags, and have seen many fakes in my time from thrifting. It certainly doesn't raise any red flags for me, but then again, I've never had this particular style either. It's heavy and solid and just looks so perfect. I wish I could see a fake one and get a good comparison. Not sure what to do with this bag until I get this sorted :/

thanks so much for all your help, and Hyacinth too!! Hopefully we can get down to the bottom of this

ps- I found one replica online....ick! I think this one is pretty obviously fake. Perhaps they make better bootlegs though. http://www.vogueitrading.com/img_shopxp/Handbag/11/0420/HA-COA022237.jpg
Yeah, that one is bad. Sadly, many of the fakes in this style and similar ones are much "better," and it's in tiny details like size of rivets, stitching, horse and carriage plaque, and sometimes lining color that help in the authentication of them.

Again, I do think your bag is okay. (I hope PCL checks in to comment.)
I brought the bag over to the coach store in the mall nearby here, and a few employees looked it over and all said it was real. They said for the more official autenticity test, I'd have to ship it out to Coach headquarters and yadda yadda and I said fugettaboutit. Has anyone done that before?
Thanks again ladies :)
I thought Coach stopped sending bags out for authentication. Several years ago, I helped my sister do that with a fake she bought on ebay. (The danged bag had Gs on it and PP made her send it out!)

It's a really bad fake. It's not worth fixing, iMO.

I agree with BeenBurned - don't waste your money. Fakes like that are very cheaply made and will just keep falling apart. Write FAKE on it with a permanent marker and throw it in the trash.

I just saw a link to this gorgeous bag, but I've never seen anything like it. First of all I'd love to know if it's real, and I'd love to hear more about it if it is. Any info would sure be appreciated! :confused1:

It's impossible to really authenticate what may be a sample bag, because we have no verified genuine version to compare it to. How hard would it be for a fakes maker to just stick Sample serial numbers inside a bunch of limited production fakes?

That means that the buyer has to decide if it's worth taking a chance on the bag. All I can say is that the few important details I can see are similar to genuine Coaches. The rest is your decision.

Hi -- I personally owned this bag and sold on ebay. Now the buyer is claiming that it is not authentic and wants her money back. Can you verify this is authentic?

The bag is authentic.

Does she have a reason for thinking it's fake? Is she familiar with Coach bags from 2003? Please refer the buyer here if she has questions. There's nothing wrong with that bag.

I agree with BeenBurned, there's nothing wrong with the bag in the photos. Your buyer either has Buyer's Remorse or has been reading too many of those fake online "authenticity guides".

It does look okay...but I am still not 100% due to the price and gathers. Something just irks me about it. But maybe I am super paranoid, lol! There are some really really good fakes of this bag, better than the one in the link you posted. Much better.
