I'm new here but have browsed the various forums from time to time and it's a wonderful community with very knowledgeable and helpful people. I'm looking for assistance in authenticating a possible Coach Coin Purse.

I have searched the Coach forum/thread and I have searched on eBay for similar items and have found ones that are a fabric/leather combo but not all leather.

The coin purse was purchased at the Salvation Army and is missing the key ring. I am questioning its authenticity because the coin purse has the C's but no where does it show the word Coach on the item.

Sorry if this post is too long and thank you in advance for any assistance anyone is able to offer. :smile1:

Not all Coach items say Coach, especially if they already have the Signature C pattern. I'm not sure of the exact dates for that particular embossed C pattern but it's probably from around 2007, give or take a year or 2. There's nothing to make me think it's not genuine.

I'd like to see the full creed stamp but chances are that it shows a year code of 2004 or 2005. Coach did several limited availability colors those years with silver-color hardware including this Denim or Federal Blue and also Aubergine, and they don't often show up on Ebay. I have one in each color and this one looks completely genuine and is from a well-respected seller.

Hmm. There are now TWO reasons why I don't recommend mariamonte20.

1. The seller is a picture thief. The gallery picture in her listing is stolen from this seller's listing:

That exact bag is probably not from the Bonnie Cashin era. It could have been made any time from the mid-1970s to about 1988, and Bonnie Cashin left Coach in 1974. I don't think that Coach started using stamped creeds and serial numbers until several years after she left.

The original version may have been designed by her - the style was called a Courier Pouch and is one of the oldest styles in Coach's catalog - but I doubt if that particular bag would be considered a Cashin bag by the Bonnie Cashin Foundation. It IS a genuine Coach but was probably made at least several years after the "Cashin Era" ended.

DemRam is our Cashin expert and may be able to give you more information.
