That style was very highly faked and most of the ones that have shown up on Ebay have been counterfeit. However, I think this is one of the few genuine ones.
Please wait for more opinions.
It looks good to me. It's a heritage stripe satchel. (Coach doesn't call its bags "speedy.")
No idea what this one is.. was in pretty beat up shape. It had such treasures in it like matchsticks, hairpins, old receipts, and I think an insect leg.
I would appreciate name/style number/approximate year, if you could provide! Thanks in advance!!
Goodwill - $7.50
Nice find.
The bag is a twill stripe flap bag, style 10701. I don't know the style number of the wristlet but both pieces are authentic.
Wow! Glad it's ok but doesnt occur to me tt it's an heritage. Glad i got it.
Thanks again.
You're both welcome.Awesome! Thanks so much.. I almost didn't get the bag, until I saw the matching wristlet was part of the deal! They both show a little wear, so I'll be looking into how I can clean them up.. Back to the rehab thread I go![]()
Wait for the experts, but if the sizes are similar then it looks a lot like the Convertible Clutch 9635 that I recently had authenticated. Mine is in terrible shape too. It even has verdigris and I paid $20 for it!; but I fell for the bugandy color!
DemRam kindly posted this catalog pic and pics of my poor abused bag are at the links below. Good luck to both of us with our rehabs!

'97 equestrian zip?
Goodwill $10
I'm somewhat concerned because some edges inside appear to not have been dyed, I think.. I could not get a decent picture of it.. but basically, the dark brown suede sometimes doesn't go allllll the way to the edge where leather pieces meet and are sewn.. should I persist in taking a picture of that?

I should learn to take measurements before posting! Mine is 9.5" x 5.25" x 2" with about a 20" drop.. not quite your measurements, so unfortunately not a convertible clutch. I'm dying to get the bigger purses, but could only find small ones around here!
I have too many bag choices, I need to stay out of the thrift stores. They had a nice selection of larger Coach bags at the SA store yesterday but the prices are getting too high (even for the fakes!) to take a chance that they aren't genuine or that I won't be able to rehab them successfully.
And I have plenty of of projects piled up anyway, but they were still hard to resist! They had a black leather legacy zip for $30 and a black/black signature ergo pocket bag also for $30. And it was really difficult to walk away from the $12 putty Beckett Zip - because that's a rare and beautiful bag, but light-colored bags are just so difficult to rehab successfully! I did pick up a "made in NYC" slim satchel standard in british tan and I am really excited about that one!
Good luck finding more great bags to rehab!
It looks fine to me. I sold the same 1977 "Equestrian Zip" from the "C" factory and what I see from your photos looks the same as mine.
I think I understand what you mean about the "dye" question. I would like to see a photo, if you can get one. (It would probably help if you had someone hold the bag open for you).
I have seen the inside of some bags where the edges along the seam lines look like the dye didn't "take". I don't know exactly how that happens.

I was just thinking to myself, I need to move to the big city, just so I can have a better selection of rehab bags! Maybe when I go visit relatives, I can check them out. And I saw that slim satchel of yours.. it looked awesome! I've been trying to get one of those (I even scoured ebay) but no luck. Maybe someday
I get what you mean by high prices. There was a $60 tag on a bag the other day.. it might be rare, I don't know.. It looked like a tote with dowels on top, and I liked it. However, I did not like the price tag. This morning, there was a 9017 Abbie(?) for half off (net $6) but I couldn't trust it! I'll probably beat myself up for leaving it behind, but I'm quite happy with what I did get!
Yours was 1977, right? And mine's 1997? Heh, I could never get my years right, I thought. I found a part of the bag where the non-dye happened, and was easier to access - right underneath the flap where the creed was!
