I just bought this on ebay and wanted to know if it was the real deal before I send payment - I realize the seller only has 2 feedback, but the price was so low (at least, I think so!) and I didn't want to miss it. Please give your feedback! :)

Item: Authentic Coach Suede Handbag
Listing Number: 320827657705

It may be genuine, but we really need to see a photo of the creed patch showing the creed statement and serial number. Coach did a series of special Legacy Archive bags when they opened their Bleecker Street boutique in 2008 or 2009 and this looks like one of them, maybe a Bleecker Street Suede Haversack style 12797 but that's just a guess.

I'd ask for a photo of the creed, and wouldn't be uncomfortable paying for it - just use caution and pay with Paypal funded by a credit card.

Good job Hyacinth. :graucho:

Beautiful bag unfurling. Congrats.

Hi Hyacinth! Thank you so much for replying to my inquiry - I feel so vindicated now!! I believe you are correct about the buyer's remorse. She waited until the last minute to bid and used the BUY IT NOW option, when she probably would have won it for the starting bid of $109.99, since there were no other bids. I thought it was very strange when that occurred. Her eBay ID is "guru534" (155 eBay transactions with 100% feedback).

This is guru534 1st email to me:

"It may have been unintentional but as a former employee of COACH,Inc it was immediately obvious by several flaws in the attempt to pass it off, that this is not an authentic COACH purse. If you would please issue me a refund immediately and I will of course send you the purse. If a refund is denied I will have to notify Ebay,PayPal and COACH,Inc in New York that fraud has been committed. As I am sure you know, the penalty for selling a counterfeit product is serious. If this was not intentional I will certainly continue to give you positive feedback as soon as my money is refunded. Sincerely, guru534".

My response:
Wow, the errors in the Coach # were not intentional at all. I purchased this bag thru an eBay siller not too long ago and only carried it a couple of times. I assumed that it was a real Coach. It looks real to me, and the Coach creed looks real to me too, although I am not an expert, as I am with Dooney & Bourke. Threats are not necessary, as you will get your money back as soon as I receive the bag in the return mail. I will not refund the return shipping. I believe it's an authentic Coach purse, but it's certainly not worth arguing about. I be willing to bet that this is authentic, but again, not worth the trouble. Nothing I did in the listing or in the selling of this purse was to intentionally defraud anyone, I would NEVER do that, and take offense at your insinuation. This is a hobby to me and I always take the selling, describing of the item, and the careful shipping of the item VERY seriously. I've never been accused of selling a fraud. Please return it and I'll refund your money promptly. I LOVE the bag and would be very happy to have it back. Have a nice evening - Kimberly

2nd email from guru534:
"In addition, you stated that style 9718 has been retired.....not true. Style 9718 is registered to an entirely different purse. You stated that it would be stamped for style 9340. Style 9340 is also registered to an entirely different purse. There are several other fraudulent things in the purse that I will be ready to share with the proper parties should a refund be denied. Sincerely, guru534"

My response:
So, I suppose this listing is for a fraudulent purse also: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Black...137?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item4cfbe88901

The eBay template I used to list this bag was also used to list another Coach bag (Style #9340) that I'm selling right now if you take a look at my listing for the Coach Hippie Saddle Bag. It was a totally honest mistake that I forgot to change the Style number when I used the same template for the next Coach listing. Again, I'm truly sorry for the mixup, but I am very upset that you have threatened me when it was really not necessary for an honest mistake in the Style #. I still stand by the authenticity of the bag; the seller I bought it from had a stellar feedback profile and specialized in selling Coach.

Last email from guru534:
"Hi XXXXXXXXX,
Please accept my apology for being so harsh....I can tell by your response that you absolutely did not intend to sell a purse that was not authentic. I will send the purse back to you tomorrow and I know in my heart that you will send me a refund and we will just put this behind us. No harm done, no hard feelings and I will not mention it to anyone and give you very positive feedback. Live and learn as they say. guru534"

It appears to me that for all intent and purposes, the only fraud is guru534. Do you have any suggestions about how to handle the transaction going forward? Should I just chalk it up to experience and refund her money, as she is requesting? Again, thanks so much for authenticating this bag.

She's an idiot AND a liar.

"2nd email from guru534:
"In addition, you stated that style 9718 has been retired.....not true. Style 9718 is registered to an entirely different purse..."
FALSE. Style 9718 IS retired and has been for almost 10 years. And with EXTREMELY rare exceptions (also known as mistakes) Coach never re-uses a style number for a completely different style. Coach's own photo of style 9718 is shown below from their now-discontinued "drilldown".

I wouldn't refund her one thin dime of the shipping charges either way. If I were the seller I'd charge the b**** a 25 percent re-stocking fee but I'm sure that would probably result in Negative FB - but I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT ALL SELLERS READING THIS Add
guru534 TO THEIR BLOCKED BIDDER LISTS.

Thanks Hyacinth! I love it!!

I was looking for ivory Coach totes, and found these two listings:

Item: NWT COACH IVORY LEATHER EAST WEST GALLERY TOTE PURSE 13759

Seller: ajsdesignerfashioncloset

Item: GUC AUT Coach Bone Leather Pleated Turnlock East/West Gallery Tote/Handbag 13759

Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/180790974858?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Should there be differences in the creeds of identical styles? There appear to be other subtle differences in the bags, but I'm no Coach expert. Thanks for the help!

Both look fine.

They're made in different plants, and in this case, different countries so there are apt to be slight differences in the creeds. Besides the obvious difference being that one is made in India and the other in China, I do notice that one has a hyphen between "hand" and "crafted" and the other doesn't have the hyphen.

Again, both bags are authentic.

Hopefully Katev or DemRam can answer that question, or maybe someone at the main Coach forum can. They've done dozens of "purse rescues" and have a lot more experience than I do about what can be done to get a tired Coach back into good condition.

thanks..I read through some of the rehab/recovery posts, I am going to start by giving it a bath in ivory soap and see how that goes. I have brasso at home but will have to buy a leather cleaner or conditioner - (which is where I am confused.) I am hoping one of the experts will answer.
