Hi ladies,
I guess this city bag is authentic, right?
I want to bid on this and asked for more pictures including the creed from the seller. I also asked about the condition as the seller mentioned that she had it professionally cleaned which changed it's appearance. I wonder about the changed appearance and enquired further and I got a reply that she went to a European Shoes Repair to clean the bag and she believes that he used saddle soap, leather cleaner/enhancement and some sort of protection.
My question is, do you think the shop use shoe polish/dye on the bag? I just want to be careful before I place any bid. thanks in advance :)

It's authentic BUT the bag is not vintage. It's from 2006 - and who knows what in the world a shoe repair shop used on it - but I'll bet they used something that isn't doing any good for the leather.

Hopefully Katev or DemRam can answer that question, or maybe someone at the main Coach forum can. They've done dozens of "purse rescues" and have a lot more experience than I do about what can be done to get a tired Coach back into good condition.

thanks..I read through some of the rehab/recovery posts, I am going to start by giving it a bath in ivory soap and see how that goes. I have brasso at home but will have to buy a leather cleaner or conditioner - (which is where I am confused.) I am hoping one of the experts will answer.

If you search the main Coach forum or even the Rehab thread for "apple conditioner" or "lexol conditioner" you'll find plenty of recommendations.

My own preference is Lexol Conditioner for classic Coach leather, and Apple for newer leathers, even some like Water Buffalo hide that Coach says can't be conditioned. You always want to test a small area first though. Don't use Coach conditioner since it contains silicone and can affect the threads used in the stitching.

Comments: Real or not?

I'm not familiar with it but there are over a hundred listed on Ebay right now. If you Search "coach 17574" - Check Title and Description -you'll find a ton of them which usually means they've just been on sale at the Outlets.

I don't see anything wrong with the one you're looking at although I wonder why the price markdown isn't shown on the price tag - no one paid the full retail price on the tag for that bag. Unless the unmarked ones were sold thru the online Outlet sale last month.

I have many of the leather grommet bracelets but have never seen this style before, so unsure if this is real or fake? If real, anyone have any idea as to the year(s) this style was made and did it come in any other colors too? TIA!!

Hi authenticators---I believe my earlier request (post #5643) was overlooked. Is it possible to tell me if this leather Coach bracelet is real? TIA!

I guess no one is familiar with this style to know if its real or not?
I've tried searching the wayback machine coach archive but haven't been successful....

I'm sorry too but I can't help.

I have never rehabbed that specific bag so I am not an expert, but I would probably give it a bath in Ivory and then stuff it with towels to shape it while dries. There are a number of good quality and easily available leather conditioners available. Leather CPR can usually be found at Tuesday Morning, Bed Bath Beyond, and Walmart stores. Apple conditioner is available at Burlington Coat Factory, and Lexol and Meltonian are often available at shoe repair shops. Equestrian riding stores also carry a wide range of leather care products and many more are available online.

The bag appears to be in good condition and shouldn't need a lot of work, I hope you got it at a good price? I love a coach bargain!

Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

1. Fake
2. Not enough pictures
3. Not familiar with the style and there are a couple of things that bother me but without more information, I wouldn't report.
