She definitely uses dyes on most everything she sells. We caught her selling a few fakes in the past but I don't think recently.

Always ask her about dyes & shoepolishes.

Something has definitely been "done" to that bag. Read this from the auction:

...I found a perfect strap for it from another stewardess bag, but it was a different color. The shoe shop was able to change the color to match the bag. It came very very close, except the new strap is a little more shiny.

I would ask what was used to "change the color". If you look at the enlarged photos you can see some sort of blue "gunk" on the metal grommets on the strap.

Genuine Sonoma Small Bucket Zip, technically not vintage if you accept the word to mean bags more than 20 years old.

Thank you again for another authentication, Hyacinth. I will remember the vintage rule; so that means I'm not familiar with anything prior to 2005 really.

I have been noticing a few very obvious fakes on Ebay. Should I be reporting all of them? I wasn't sure of the protocol. Also, I stopped by a Salvation Army this weekend and all but one of their Coach bags was a fake. I even found one of the infamous Coach bean bags.

Thanks ladies, I emailed the seller. I came across the auction at the very end and pulled the trigger too soon. I guess I should have guessed that the bag went low for a reason.

I should have also realized that the grommets should have been brass and not blue :-\ I'll blame it on an itchy trigger finger....

Vintage Coach Brown Leather Shoulder BAG NEVER USED

The bag seems to be genuine but the box and label mentioned in the listing is NOT from this bag. This isn't a City Bag and the style number isn't 6790 OR 9790. It looks like a Spectator Bag style # 9795 from around 1987 which is about the same size as a City Bag although the strap is an inch or two shorter.

It's still best to have the Ebay listings checked here before reporting, and it also helps in that posters who see verified fakes listed here will often send in reports too, and with Ebay, more reports mean a better chance of getting the fakes pulled. Bags with known always-fake serial numbers that are on my Fakes List can be reported right away but please be sure you actually see a photo of the serial number to verify that it's actually in that bag.

There isn't much you can do about fakes being sold at the SA and other thrifts or resale shops - most store managers don't want to know and don't care. They seem to think because they're registered as a non-profit, that gives them the right to break the law AND cheat their customers. But if you're a regular donor to a shop that does that you might consider taking your donations someplace else and telling the store manager face-to-face why you're doing it.
