Item: Coach Checkbook Wallet (Signature)

Authentic?

Another wallet, same seller:

Coach (Madison) CheckBook Wallet

The first one has been removed. The second one is fake.

Is this bag authentic? Has anyone ordered from this site? I wouldn't usually buy it from here but this style Peyton doesn't seem to be available anywhere :(

They sell fakes.

I see several very bad red flags.

NO photos of the insides or creeds or serial numbers for some items and in the ones that show the creed it's not readable, and many of the other photos are taken without permission from Coach'as website. In the US those photos are protected against misuse and the use of them without Coach's permission is a violation of US federal law. The use of the name "Coach" by anyone other than Coach or their official partners is also illegal in the US.

Many of the styles shown have not been sold or made for 3 or 4 years - where would anyone find so many older bags? And the serial number in one of the Carlys I looked at is the same exact number that has been in thousands of FAKE Carlys, and a genuine bag with that serial number would have had a creed stamping that looked very different. Several of the styles are 8 years old and are known to be the most widely faked styles in Coach's history.

Some of the photos are obvious fakes, like this wallet:
http://www.coachsalesingapore.com/coach-accordion-large-wallet-coffee-p-528.html
Compare the pattern on the fake with the real one shown below in Coach's own photo.
Other wallets have incorrect stamps or the wrong kind of leather trim.

I would advise that you and everyone else NOT BUY from topbag-outlet.com or coachsalesingapore.com

Is it OK to post a general question about serial / model numbers here? With older Coach bags, would B6C xxxx (no hyphen) be fake because it should be B6C-xxxx (with a hyphen)? Thanks.

A serial number by itself doesn't tell us anything and doesn't prove anything unless it's a known always-fake number. Please post photos of the actual bag including the creed and number.

And sometimes older bags didn't have hyphens - plenty of mistakes were made when making classic and vintage Coaches, anyone who claims they should be perfect is mistaken.

Thank you, Hyacinth. The bag looked authentic to me except for the lack of a hyphen in the serial number. It was very dirty & scuffed, so I passed on it. I am happy to know for future reference that the lack of a hyphen is not necessarily a red flag. Thanks again.

If you read the description a bit farther down and the subtitle line right under the listing title, it's actually a genuine Carrier Brief style 9800 which is a little larger than a Musette but very similar in design and details except for having an outside back pocket and sometimes a longer strap. The seller is also a tPF member who authenticates any questionable or unusual bags here before she lists them.
Hi, I received this bag, and it looks virtually unused. but i wonder about it. i have two other "musette" bags from old days, one very very old & loved and one a bit less worn. this newest one from ebay seems just different: the leather seems a bit more stiff, it's a very dark brown (i didn't know coach made such a dark brown) darker than my other vintage brown bags. and while the inside pocket on my two original bags (which i bought ?late 70s early 80? cant remember) has leather on the outside, this one has unfinished suede. but the creed looks right, and all the stitching etc is identical. so authentic? maybe a year later? or an amazing copy? how does one really know? the photos on the ebay site are quite accurate.

UPDATE: The seller added two pictures of the creed. But they're practically useless, she took them from a distance :-). What do you think, ladies?

Comments: No close up of the creed. Let me know if you think I should ask for extra photos.

Thanks in Advance! Sarah

It looks okay, but you're right. The pictures are practically useless. :(
