Hi --

I just sold this bag on ebay and the seller is questioning its authenticity. I believe it is a very early Cashin bag as there is no creed etc....just a small tag. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the photos don't post I will try to get them once my time capsule backs up.

It's earlier than I'm familiar with. Can I ask why you feel it's a Cashin bag and not just an early Coach? Have you had any similar styles authenticated by the Cashin Foundation?

And is your buyer questioning that it's a Coach, or that it's a Cashin design, and did they give you any reasons?

Hopefully either DemRam or Denimbarks will take a look.

Hello there. I wanted to bid on these bags but was feeling iffy about them. They didnt meet the reserve so I'm sure the seller will relist. I know theres some issue with this seller before so I was really hesitant to bid. Here they are, what makes me nervous is that the serial numbers look very odd, overstamped....

Does anyone know if these so called all leather vintage styles get faked? THanks a bunch!

Hi Ladies,

I'm interested in this wallet. Real? Thanks.

item: Khaki Tan Coach Slim Envelope Long Wallet with Zipper
listing number: 250912271877
seller: maricruz_2009

I don't recommend this Coach listing or any other designer items from maricruz_2009. This wallet and several of her other completed wallet listings are among the most highly faked styles around.

Therefore, I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending a seller who doesn't have a proven history of selling only authentic items.

Additional red flags on this seller's items are private listings, unrealistic quantities of the same styles and prices that are impossibly low.

Additionally, her location being California (and I apologize to the many honest California sellers) raises more red flags because there's a huge ring of counterfeit Coach wallet sellers in some areas of California.

I'm just bumping to correct the spelling of the seller's name so it'll come up in a search.

Wait for Hyacinth and DemRam for opinions on the listings.

Thanks! I really appreciate your feedback and advice. I don't have a lot of experience buying from ebay but I know this style can be easily faked.

You're welcome.

I also looked at the seller's feedback and in reading through the comments, I can tell that many of those private listings for which she has feedback refer to a wallet. There is no way she sells authentic wallets.

There are many honest sellers on ebay (and other sites) and you can buy an authentic wallet. Just come here first because wallets are so highly faked and "well-faked."

The Beekman - the bag itself seems ok but the turnlock looks odd. The serial number points to early 1990s but it almost looks like the turnlock has been replaced with the kind used in the late 1990s that had a squared-off top and bottom although the shape doesn't quite match either style. Maybe it's the lighting but the turnlock almost looks a bit lopsided.

NoShoePolish really needs to look at that one.

And yes, all-leather classic Coaches get faked as much as newer styles, and are usually a LOT harder to spot. It's surprisingly easy to fake an older Coach and older Coaches should always be authenticated. But I don't see any problems with this one, it looks like a genuine Manor Bag from 1996.

Overstamping on older serial numbers (before 2000) happened a lot, and unfortunately has also been successfully faked. But in general it should never raise questions of authenticity.

Good to know. Here's another one that I'm considering. What do you think? Thanks again!

The Beekman looks ok. The turnlock might be a replacement - you can even ask her. I would definitely ask her if there is any dye or polish or anything like that on the bag. It looks coated in crud to me.

Also, the strap looks like it might have alot of use. Ask about that too. I have seen some wear to limp noodles.

There are some briefcase sellers that dye their bags and do not disclose it. You always want to ask.

When you buy one, check the brass/nickel for signs of dye on it. Alot of sellers miss cleaning the hardware after dyeing bags.

Hi --

Unclear -- but I think she is questioning the Coach part because she mentioned the lack of creed and serial number. I just assumed it was Cashin based on the style (and what was told to me) but I could certainly be wrong on that.

I did suggest that we ask Cashin foundation. Waiting for a response from buyer -- Thanks

I have the exact same questions that Hyacinth has. What exactly is the buyer questioning? That it's a Cashin design? That it's Coach? That it's authentic?

I've never seen that style (which means nothing) but is the buckle on the front of the bag simply decorative or does it actually open and close the bag?

Simply because it's an older Coach doesn't mean it's a "Cashin" design. That is a question for the Cashin Foundation and I don't think they are authenticating at this time.

Sorry, but I have nothing but questions.

:smile1:

I should clarify that you would want to ask about dye on any bag you consider buying from this seller.

I don't know about the bag but you are not allowed to add all that stuff on the bottom of the listing about other items you have for sale. It is called key word spamming and is a policy violation.

It looks okay to me. (I was going to suggest waiting for another opinion but Hyacinth already posted it.)
