The specs of the new "classic" Stewardess Bag 17996 are still up at Net-a-Porter. This is what they show, and yes, the strap is a lot shorter:
Width 11" / 28cm
Height 11" / 29cm
Depth 4" / 11cm
Handle Drop 14" / 36cm
http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/106182#tab2

But like the others have said, the seller always needs to show the bag she's actually selling.

If you're looking for the heavy vintage Coach leather, the new "classics" are NOT the styles to buy - a lot of posters have been disappointed in the leather quality too.

Thanks, Hyacinth! After reading the thread that BB referenced above, I see now that this is one of the re-issues - not a real Coach Classic.

#!@#^o!! Coach classic turnlock crossbody 17994

Yep, you have to be careful with those.

I can almost see why the seller wanted to use Coach's photos - the one pic she sent looking down into the bag shows you just how thin and cheap the leather is compared to the original bag.

Yes, it really does look cheap and thin compared to the classic I have from 2001. And it costs so much more, which boggles the mind. :-s

Anyway, thank you ladies for your help and instruction on this. I really learned something today!

Is this Coach Ergo authentic? Thanks in advance. I realize the creed is pretty blurry and may not suffice.

Hi, I have a few new wonderful old Coach bags that I want to be sure of as far as authenticity. Any help is appreciated:)*

1.Item: Daypack Backpack 9960
Link:*http://vintagelovegirl.blogspot.com/2011/09/daypack-backpack-9960.html
Comments: I don't see any issues but want to double check - first Coach that I've come across made in the Dominican Republic.

2. Item:*Demi Bag Mini Hobo 9844

Comments:*

3.*Item: pre 1994 Station Bag 5130
Link:http://vintagelovegirl.blogspot.com/2011/09/older-station-bag-5130.html

4.*Item: Mini Ergo Bag 9020
Link:*http://vintagelovegirl.blogspot.com/2011/09/mini-ergo-9020.html
Comments: I wanted to buy this but hesitated because of the obvious gap between the B and the 8. I know Coach is consistent in it's inconsistency so it may not be an issue - just wanted your opinion please. One side of the hang tag is also bubbled (shown) - I suppose that could have been caused by numerous situations. Everything else looks good to me.

5.*Item: another older Station Bag 5130

Thank-you so much! To my eyes and knowledge the only one I think might be questionable is #4 - but since I do both buy and sell I like to be 100% sure when I do either. Thanks!!!

Comments: I know that 17996 isn't the correct style number for the Stewardess bag, but the seller doesn't show a picture of the creed. I emailed and asked for one. If she sends one to me I'll post it here. Also, is it just me or is the strap too short?

OK. Here are 3 of the pictures the seller sent to me. Two are of the creed and one is the inside of the bag.

She also sent pictures of the tag and care card if those make a difference. If there's still a question, I can upload those as well.

Thanks!
I question why she's avoiding sending a picture of the bag. If she sends everything else, why not the bag?

Again, I am very much opposed to doing business or supporting a seller who doesn't do her own work! (And if the seller is up for lectures, please feel free to let her know why she doesn't deserve your $300+ and direct her here.)

1- ok
2- ok, Legacy West Demi Pouch
3- looks ok, early 1990s
4- looks ok, those gaps are common in 1990s non-US bags. The hangtag may have been re-glued.
5- looks ok
