Comments: Please help authenticate. The riveted holes that are on strap look like they were gold toned once and are now faded to nickel/silver color. Is this normal wear for a older bag? Also the rivets that attach the buckles to the bag are nickel/silver color. I don't know the name of bag. Some listings say Maggie. This listing states Bonnie. A7D-9019. I did a little more research it is a Maggie 1997. TIA

Bag appears to be coated with dye/polish. Not sure. You would have to ask. Let others comment on authenticity.

Thank you. I can't tell. I don't think is had been because the bottom has a lot of wear. I can post more pictures if needed to authenticate. I received it today.

The name of style 9019 is the "Maggie Duffle". It looks like a Maggie Duffle, but I'm having a hard time reading the wording on the creed.

I have much older bags than that one and the brass hardware is still the color of brass. I would personally be very unhappy with a bag that has two-tone hardware. I think that should have been mentioned.

Wait for other opinions on authenticity before you do anything.

There's something odd in the listing photos - one of the top "corners" of the bag that folds over to hold the strap buckles has only one rivet and the one on the other side has two. Both sides should have dual rivets.
ETA - One of the rivets may be almost at a 90-degree-angle to the camera, there might be something flat and shiny there but it's hard to say
I personally have never had brass rivets discolor or wear away to a silver color but maybe other posters have seen it happen?

Another problem is that the creed seems to be stamped too far down on the inside pocket. Compare yours with the one being sold by a tPF'er who's showing plenty of excellent clear photos- from a different year and plant, but basics like the location of the creed and the numnber of rivets holding the buckles are usually things that don't change and there's only a year's difference in the age of the bags:

The Coach logo at the top of the creed is also very faint compared to the rest of the creed. There are a lot of little things that don't seem quite right with that bag, even the position of the serial number seems just a bit too close to the creed itself - you'd sometimes see that in older bags but by 1997 they had the formatting pretty well settled. The shape of the base looks kind of flattened on one side too instead of being round but that might just be from storage. The creed itself also seems stamped just a bit off-center.

Maybe someone else will spot something else.

Thanks. It does have two rivets on each side. The different color hardware is bothering me. I am attaching more pictures.

Never seen the first one before but it doesn't strike me as right - too much of the wrong hardware for one thing.

Second - you need a lot more photos to authenticate Coach watches including the back of the case and any and all stampings or marks on the back of the band. Fake watches are very common especially on Ebay.

Thanks Hyacinth; would you then assume the rest of her handbags are authentic?

I never make those kind of assumptions.

Any seller on any day can get conned into buying and listing a fake. It all depends on how careful the seller is and how much of an effort s/he has made to educate themselves and anyone who may work for them.

Thanks, I see the other one now. The low placement of the creed on the pocket is definitely a problem and is often found in fakes. I'm not 100 percent sure but there are definitely some incorrect details on that bag, the different colored hardware being the big problem but the creed placement to me is the biggest red flag.

I know we've seen that type of discrepancy before especially on duffle and bucket style bags - without knowing if it was a problem on genuine Coaches or not, there's really no advice I can give. I've never owned that style bag or any other with a similar problem, if anyone else has let's hope they can tell us about their experience.
