1- probably genuine but without a photo of the creed it's impossible to say for sure. Probably a Convertible Clutch, age unknown

2- genuine City Bag from 2005, not even CLOSE to being "vintage".

As for mildew problems, always ask the seller if the bag has any problems - stains, loose stitching, odors of any kind. There's no visual way to tell if a bag has an odor problem. If the listing doesn't mention odors and the seller doesn't bother to answer your question, don't bid, especially if they say the bag is sold "as is".

Thanks so much Hyacinth! You're a tremendous help as always!......yes when I saw the 05 in the creed I thought it was from 2005 but of course I wanted to go to the experts. By the way is that the way the dust bags usually look. I had heard they came with a red trim but I'm assuming they had more than one kind throughout the ages :-)

You've been paying attention to those online "authenticity guides" again - what do I keep saying about those? :nono:

The brown dustbags with red trim were used in the mid-2000s but those are NOT the only kind Coach has used. Wherever you heard that genuine dustbags have to have red drawstrings, wipe that from your mind and your computer because like almost everything in those Guides, that was only true for a short time and only with dustbags given out by the full-price stores. Genuine dustbags can also be brown with cream-colored strings in several fifferent fabrics, or white, and very old bags would sometimes have tan ones. The Factory Outlets give small thin white dustbags with red Coach logos but usually only with small accessories like wallets and keychains.

Most fakes come with fake dustbags too. Every genuine style and color of dustbag has been faked, so a dustbag doesn't prove anything, although a fake dustbag (often a cheap fabric with block letters but NOT always!) will usually indicate that the bag it's with is probably fake too.

Lol!!:D...Yes I have read a lot of the guides prior to finding this site and as you so wisely advised...take it with a grain of salt although there's always some truth mixed in with the inaccuracies. But I love to bounce things off you so that I can edit through all the cross referenced info to get to the real nuggets!
I always find I retain things better when I ask questions rather than just reading tons of material that can get quite confusing :smile1:
Thanks again Hyacinth!

1- probably the regular size Saddle Pouch, #9590, from before 1988. Notice it mentions that some of the color is sun-faded

2- Legacy Large Shopper from 1997, genuine

3- genuine Large Slim Satchel style # 9430 probably from the mid to late 1970s

4- Slim Satchel Compact, 9425, same period as #3.

One additional comment regarding outlet dustbags, some outlet malls have a Coach men's store. (It's often a separate Coach store and is generally next door to the women's coach store.)

The men's outlet has similar muslin dustbags but they are white with brown lettering.

(I mention this because I don't want to see an authentic men's item listing reported as fake just because there's a white with brown outlet bag with it.)

Thanks, BB, I stand corrected!

I've been putting off visiting the only one within driving distance since I'm usually so fed up by the crowds and the lack of anything worth buying at the main store that I just head for my car and get the H*** out of there (after a stop at the Lindt Chocolate outlet, natch!)
