I'm glad your mom did the right thing. I hope she can take it back to the shop and get a refund.

A LOT of classic leather fakes are almost impossible to tell from real even for someone familiar with Coach. Usually it's the small details like the hardware or a wrong digit or code in a serial number that's the only clue.

I hope that she can get back a refund too but I doubt it because I think she's had it laying around the house for a while. I just feel bad for her because she is totally embarrassed now :shame:

The bag looks genuine. I'm not a rehab expert, and every bag is going to be different. Almost all rehabs will have positive results as long as you follow the advice of the expert rehabbers over at the main Coach forum. But as for looking "new"? Hard to say - I prefer bags that show a little history.

There's no need for that - the only one who should be embarrassed is the person who originally bought a fake and then tried to pass it on instead of destroying it. Probably 99 percent of Coach buyers and almost as many sellers would have thought it was genuine. Give your mom a hug and tell her it's not her fault and she needn't feel bad about it as long as she did the right thing. And then give her an extra hug from all of us - you can never give your mom TOO many hugs! :hugs:

We're happy to authenticate any bag here no matter where it's bought. We just hope that we can catch the fakes early enough so that the unknowing buyers can at least get their money back.

I know the above creed was hard to read (their other listings also seem to have angular or indirect creed photos), but I wanted to check to ask your opinion. I am going to email the seller to request better photos of the bags' creeds before bidding.

This is a steal if it's not fake! I've recently become obsessed with matching items of the same line (eg, collecting all the Secret Admirer pieces!)

This is the last one I need of this pattern, so if it's real, I need to get it ASAP - anyone have time to take a look?

They look good.

I'm guessing that the seller probably doesn't realize the importance of a picture of the creed.

And in these styles, it's easy to pull the lining out of the bag in order to get a good shot.

1- probably genuine but without a photo of the creed it's impossible to say for sure. Probably a Convertible Clutch, age unknown

2- genuine City Bag from 2005, not even CLOSE to being "vintage".

As for mildew problems, always ask the seller if the bag has any problems - stains, loose stitching, odors of any kind. There's no visual way to tell if a bag has an odor problem. If the listing doesn't mention odors and the seller doesn't bother to answer your question, don't bid, especially if they say the bag is sold "as is".
