Hi! I've been reading the TPF for hours because I've been looking to authenticate a Coach rambler's Legacy that I have on ebay. I know I'm supposed to ensure that it's authentic before posting. The creed looks good to me (No AO6)-9061) and everything else seems intact. It does state, however, that it was made in China. I know Coach has been manufacturing over there, but I haven't been able to find anything on the Legacy. I apologize for cutting in on someone else's question; I'm totally new at this and my daughter isn't here to help me navigate this site properly.
Oh, I wrote the wrong # down; it's AO60-9061. I had pressed the ) when entering the 0,

!
Unfortunately, it's impossible to authenticate based on a description of the bag and its serial number. Fakes can and often do have valid serial numbers.
As a seller, you can't post a link to your listing or seller ID but if you upload pictures to Photobucket, Inkfrog or any one of other photohosting websites, you can post the IMG links here and we can look at the pictures.
Please take clear closeups of the front, back, sides, bottom, interior, creed and hardware.
made is china tag is a real thing. One of my 2 has it.
Google the last set up numbers to see if it matches up with the legacy line, at least I think that's what you do. Sorry I couldnt be more of a help, I am a noobie here too
The made in China tag or creed doesn't mean anything because 99% of fakes have the same thing.
As for googling the style number, again, fakes can have valid style numbers as part of the serial number. Sometimes the style number even matches the style of the fake bag it's on.
Google is NOT a useful tool for determining authenticity.
Thank you. All the markings are there and I'm totally comforatble with selling it as authentic. BTW, this forum is FREAKIN" AWESOME! I've heard of it, but I always thought it was an ebay purse forum and I've heard rumors about that one.
"All the markings" don't mean it's authentic either. You can't list unless and until you have verified that it's authentic. "Feeling comfortable selling it as authentic" when in fact it might be fake is taking a huge risk as far as your ebay account and reputation are concerned.
And with regard to the ebay purse board, that's another source that helpful in learning about bags. It used to be a much more active source of information but unfortunately, there were some who didn't appreciate the information they received there. The rumors you refer to are JUST THAT!! Rumors with little truth to them.
