1. Looks okay.

2 and 3
. I can't find any other bags in these two similar styles. Although the listings may be okay, the only other bags I've found are on counterfeit-selling websites.

Please wait and see if anyone else might have one of these bags and be familiar with them.

4. Looks okay pending a picture of the creed

I did find a single Coach.com photo of the second style, and the third style has the next style number in sequence but that's not enough to be 100 percent sure those two bags are authentic. If you bid on either of them, be sure to pay with Paypal funded by a credit card.

Hello, please authenticate this vintage bag for me.:smile1: Thanks! This bag is NWOT and made in China.

It looks ok. And it's NOT vintage, vintage means 20 years old or older.

If you want to know what that style sells for, please search Ebay's completed listings for the same style. We don't give opinions about values. And PLEASE don't post multiple times.

Coach doesn't sell the checkbook inserts individually so there are only two options by which this seller has them.

Option 1: they're fake
Option 2: they're authentic but separated/stolen from the original checkbook wallet with which they belong.

I've seen instances where sellers have the full checkbook wallet and sell both pieces individually; not illegal but not completely honorable because they probably do it to get more money from 2 individual sales than from the single sale.

But since shoppingcafe2011 doesn't appear to have sold wallets, this scenario isn't likely.

Another comment on the seller is that she frequently uses stolen stock photos in her listings. She doesn't even show any pictures of her own actual items.

Stolen pictures from Coach:

Stolen gallery pic from Dooney. No idea whether the other pics are her own or also stolen:

Thanks. Since there is no proof, I can't report her, right? The funny thing is that the only reason I found her is because she bid on a high number of one seller's auctions and won 5 of the same identical Coach purse, and then bid on 5 listings of another identical Coach purse from the same seller, and won 3. Another bidder won the other 2. I know there is something fishy about her and the situation but I can't figure it out. She hasn't listed these purses, but if she did, there is no way she could make a profit.

It would be interesting to look at that other seller's listings too.

She might also have a different seller ID we haven't found yet. But I agree about the checkbook covers, they're never sold separately. Coach makes what's called a Multi Case that holds a checkbook and credit cards but the design and layout is different. None of what that seller has listed are Multi Cases.

The seller has several buying and selling IDs. I haven't looked at other listings, but I stand by my opinion that what the seller is doing with checkbook covers is at best, unethical.

I am the seller of this item: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=280612634570

and my buyer is questioning authenticity. I was hoping the gals here could offer their opinions for my buyer but I'll have it be known that I made it clear she is still welcome to make the return is she still feels uncomfortable. Among her concerns are the lining, the leather, and the zipper. If you're familiar with the type of lining that should go in this bag, I think it would be of great help to comment on it. Thank you!

Absolutely, it's like the lowlifes who take off the hangtags off the bags they're selling to sell them separately. Buying from sellers like that just helps them validate their shady practices. If I'm buying a bag or a wallet I want it the way Coach originally sold it. Once a seller removes the checkbook cover or the hangtags, the value of the item goes down and the final buyer isn't getting what she's paying for.

Did you ask your buyer why she's questioning it? If she's basing her opinions on something she's read in some "authenticity guide" our opinions on those are well known - almost NONE can be relied on.

Looking at the bag I don't see ANYTHING that's wrong. The style is right for an Ergo Small Zip, the year code for 2002 is perfectly ok since that style is in Coach's Holiday 2002 catalog although their measurements are a bit different, the plant code matches the creed statement, and the lining is exactly right for an all-leather bag from that time period. All the construction details and the creed patch details check out too.

And PLEASE don't get me started on the "YKK zipper BS", my siggie here says it all. It's possible that bag may have a RISI zipper since some of their Zoes from that time had RISIs, but you have to look at the underside of the zipper pull with a mirror and a falshlight to see the name. The leather on the Ergos is lighter than the heavy Coach glove leather BECAUSE it's an "Ergo" - an ergonomic bag is SUPPOSED to be lighter, more comfortable to carry and a lighter weight on the shoulder.

Tell you buyer that her sources for the info she's been reading are COMPLETELY wrong. She really needs to do some reading here about the baloney that shows up in those useless "guides". Search the forums here for my ID and the word "guide" and you'll probably find plenty.

I revised the post a bit shortly after posting because I realized I should've specified. The only things she brought up was the leather (because it no longer smelled like leather), the lining not being correct for an ergo (I suspect she is expecting it to be the same as the more recent ergos?), and the zippers not being heavy enough.

I agree with Hyacinth that there's nothing wrong with the bag in the listing.

The reason why it probably doesn't smell strongly of leather is because after 9 years, the smell dissipates.

CRIKEY - 124 posts mentioning "Guides" and counting, just from me. Too bad buyers don't do the right kind of research before they buy instead of believing some anonymous Copy&Paste guide "writer" whos' never done a minute's worth of actual research on the subject. "The Truth is out there" if they'd just look for it.

As for the heaviness or lack of it in the zipper, see my explanation of the "Ergo" design - the Hoilday 2002 catalog describes it as "Lightweight leather with Signature lining". Heavy brass zippers are NOT ergonomic.
