O and btw~ the seller admitted to buying the bag from eBay from another seller. I think it came to her in a box from Hong Kong then she didnt like it and shipped it to me in the same box but wrapped it up in paper and stuck her label on it from Canada.

There's nothing wrong with reselling an ebay purchase.

Many sellers are "flippers," i.e., they find great deals with the intent to resell. Others buy bags, find that they aren't what they'd wanted and resell.

As long as a listing is authentic, the buyer is allowed to resell and there's nothing wrong with that.

And in fact, I saw the original listing and that one was authentic also.

Kim, if you are in doubt, call Coach. They have a specific address to ship the bag to. I believe it may cost you a bit for postage.

Otherwise you are probably out of luck with "this is a fake" agreement authentications here or elsewhere.

I have no problem with buying and selling on ebay~ I do so as well. It doesn't mean the bag is fake, all I'm saying is that the buyer has acknowledged it was not purchased from a retailer.

I used to send my fake purchases in to Coach authentication department. I even had the address on file and sent the bag into them with the claim number. They used to email paypal directly and the dispute would immediately be settled. For the record I have NEVER lost an authenticity claim because of this. Coach always determined the bags were fake because they WERE. However, apparently the authentication department has since been disbanded. I suppose they were receiving way too many bags in and it is no longer a service they are willing to provide. Big loss for all of us I'm afraid. :(

Here's my last argument~ mainly for the sake of seeing what you guys have to say about it.

1. Please view both Coach creeds, the one marked "FAKE" and the one unmarked. You will see they are both made in 2004, as indicated by the second and third digits (04) in the Coach creed. (feel free to verify this information).

2. Please view the discrepancies between the two bags' design. The feet are made differently, the buckles made differently, the zipper pulls are also made differently as well (among other things but let's just focus on those.)

3. The argument has been made that Coach often makes the same style bag with minor discrepancies. According to the Coach creed, this bag was made in the exact same year and was also a seasonal item and therefore should've even been made in the same season as well. Please answer the following questions:

a. Why would Coach make the bag differently within the same exact season when it is costly to change a design and potentially confusing to buyers?

b. Why would Coach NOT use the patent (I wish I had a picture of the patent # which should be located beneath the buckle but I didn't foresee this issue and no longer have the bag so you'll have to trust me on this one) which is EXPENSIVE for them to acquire when the bags were supposedly made within the same span of time?

Any comments or opinions?

Item: DARK BROWN COACH PURSE 5" x 14.5" x 11"
Listing number: 260599558566
Seller: springlily-cc
Link: http://cgi.ebay.com/DARK-BROWN-COACH-PURSE-5-x-14-5-x-11-/260599558566

Comments: I was planning to bid on this "Maggie" but in the seller's answers to questions she said the serial number is IO M04k 5659 and the bag is coming with a cloth dust bag...
The bag is fake. Never bid on a bag with just one picture anyway, especially when that photo is blurry.

And the serial number confirms that it's fake. The serial number is commonly seen on fakes and doesn't match the style of bag.

Here is the information on sending a bag to Coach.

Remember that the information is from an ebay Guide which may or may not be true and/or up to date.

I've commented on everything else and have no desire to rehash it but regarding the patent number on the hardware, that has NOTHING to do with Coach.
3. a. Your bag (which you claim and have marked the creed as "fake" was made in March of 2004. The other bag with the creed you say is authentic was made in July of 2004.

Since they were made in different months, in the 4 months between them, the factory probably used up its stock of hardware and got new inventory from a different company or from a different lot. Thus, the differences you are noticing.

3. b. Coach buys hardware (snaps, buckles, zippers, feet, etc.) from different manufacturers and any numbering and markings on hardware are unrelated to Coach.

A. Ok so they were made within months of each other... ran out of hardware? No more suede on the top or around the feet? Less leather on the handle bases? Even the lining is done differently~ it's sewn INTO the bag. All other bags I have ever seen are made like the authentic version I have shown here. If they only made it for a short period of time this way, why are there so many of them in that style but not in the other style? Have you ever seen this style made this way?

B. I am aware Coach gets hardware from other companies... but why would they suddenly change their contracts with hardware companies in the middle of the fiscal year? Just look beneath ANY magnetic snap of an authentic Coach bag and see if you CAN'T locate a "USA PAT" followed by a patent number. Also, the design of the buckles is very key in the preservation of the look of the line. Check out any of the Limited Edition vintage line. All the buckles look the same because they are supposed to have the same sort of look to them.

I don't understand why you are so convinced by this fake. I know the creed is done pretty cleanly, and the signature looks pretty good in pictures (you can see the difference in person) but all the details are pretty shotty if you look at the "changes" that were made to the design. If you look at the close up of the back of the hangtag you can even see where the stitching isn't strait.
