Hi Ladies!
Name: Coach Bleeker signature top handle purse
Bought from: Local thrift store
Serial Number: K0794-41034

I am having a hard time getting this authenticated. I took this into the Coach store, and they told me they no longer authenticate, but from their "personal opinion" , it looks legit. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much! ;)

It looks okay.

In the future, please authenticate before listing items. And just so you know, you can't avoid restrictions by listing items as C0ACH (with "zero" instead of O) instead of COACH.;)

Thank you beenburned! I am having an awful time with this case! Thanks again!
I see that it sold on January 23. Did that buyer claim that you sold a fake?

If that's the case, it's probably a better idea to have the buyer come and ask questions and express concerns.

Plus, if that's the case and you aren't positive of authenticity (to this point), it really shouldn't have been relisted unless YOU knew for sure that it's authentic.

Don't end the listing at this point because it's fine. But I always recommend that a good rule of thumb is that unless you personally bought an item from a legitimate retailer (such as Coach, Macy's or the like), it's a good idea to have it authenticated before listing it. It's good for your own peace of mind and serves as reassurance to a buyer.

AHHH! Well Heres what happened:
I sell coach on Ebay A LOT, and I have become quite good with telling the authentic coach purses from the replicas. In this specific case, I was 99.9% sure it was authentic, so I SOLD it as AUTHENTIC. The buyer emails me 2 days ago, and tells me that she took this into a coach store and they told her it was fake by the zipper pull, handle and creed. I then told her to ship it back to me and I would give her a full refund. Well, I just recieved the purse back today, and to my surprise she had ripped off the zipper pull and there is no way to get it back on. So I decided to take it into coach myself. I went to our local coach store and the employee told me that "coach does not authenticate purses anymore and hasn't been doing it for some time" She said that "the fee was too high for the legal dept. so they do not authenticate them anymore" She said she could give me her personal opinion and she said it looked "legitimate." Well I decided to ask the experts (you) and now I do not know how I should approach the situation with the buyer. If you have ANY advice, it would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. Funny story about the "0" in Coach.....I apparently have listed "too many" coach related items. Well I sell mostly coach and dooney purses for income, so I have only been able to list them when I use a "C0ACH" .. haha anyways figure I would try and explain myself there!

Just so you know, ebay frowns on avoiding restrictions by misspelling or using other symbols. You might find yourself in trouble for doing that.

It's also a tactic used by sellers of fakes who then claim, "well I didn't sell it as "Coach."

If ebay restricts you when you spell correctly, you just need to wait out the restriction period.

She also has not opened a case yet, but she has threatened to.
If you've already refunded her, there's no case to be opened. You got the bag back and she got the money.

But in the future, if you're giving refunds, buyers need to return the item in the same condition in which you sent it or you aren't obligated to refund them.

You might want to suggest to the buyer that she come here and express her concerns.

BUyers also need to know that if they take an ebay purchase to a Coach store and admit that they purchased from ebay, Coach is known for telling customers that items are fake even when they're authentic. Coach wants customers shopping at their stores and don't want them shopping on ebay.

Thank youf or letting me know about the restrictions, I did not know that! I have not refunded her money yet as I just recieved the bag today. I think I will email her now and let her know where I stand, and direct her this way if she has any questions/concerns. I guess I just assumed she was correct as her username was "retail" and she had more than double my feedback, silly me! That is also very helpful about the coach thing. I didn't really think about it but that makes perfect sense. Thanks again beenburned, you've been a huge help!
