I am not asking to authenticate a specific bag so I'm not sure if it's ok to post this here but I saw a bag like the one in the auction below at Goodwill today but it had signature lining. The auction states that the lining is lavender. I thought I read somewhere in the Coach forum on tPF that all bags with signature lining are fakes so I wanted to ask the experts if the bag I saw might be real.

Thanks.

The bag in that listing IS supposed to have solid lavender lining. The one you saw at Goodwill would have been fake.

There are many fakes in a style that tries to copy that hamptons patchwork style and most of the fakes have cheap gold mini sig lining. Those are absolutely fake.

But I don't think you ever read that any signature lining bag is fake. That's not true.

Generally, signature linings will be in solid color bags, but there are exceptions to the rule and there are some bags with patterned exteriors or some type of patchwork, dots or other design and sometimes those styles will have signature lining. But it's NEVER the tacky gold mini sig lining that you see on fakes.

I don't know if this is the correct place to ask this question. It's not about a specific bag (yet!), but a more general question about the tonal line. I would imagine it's highly faked - so what kinds of signs of a total fake should I be looking for?

I don't want to bring every tonal bag I see for authentication..............here's some sample pics - could anyone tell me what red flags they see and what they are so I don't have to ask for authentication on 30 different bags?

Thanks!

The glasses look okay. Is there a little round disc on the end of the earpieces?

Comments: This bag looks good to me, but I was hoping for some more opinions. Thanks in advance!
Please wait for other opinions on this seller and items.

Although I don't see any red flags, this seller has been known to purchase fake Coach wallets (for resale) from sellers of fakes.

I cannot and do not recommend tlwesthoven or any seller who buys fakes and mixes fakes and authentic items. I think that's the ultimate abuse of buyer trust.

You're correct in your assumption that the tonal bags were highly faked when they came out, probably partly as a result of the ease of faking an uncentered pattern.

As for recognizing fakes, that's hard to say; it's more a matter of looking at lots of the various styles of bags and noting the consistent details that the authentic versions have.

Your pictures are really small so it's difficult to know for sure but I don't see any red flags on any of the styles you've posted.

ETA: I see that the pics appear to be from current ebay listings and in quickly scanning the listings, I don't see any with obvious problems. I think the fakes were more common when the styles were first introduced.

I certainly don't mind your posting listings to authenticate but I'll also post some pictures of fakes (from ioffer) you to compare with other listings.

Please include a link to a listing or at least, to the seller's items. (I've added the link.)

I don't like listings with collage-type pictures for a few reasons.

1. Many counterfeit-selling sites use those types of pictures.
2. The pictures are too small to see enough detail
3. It's difficult to tell whether the pictures are the seller's own.

Please wait for other opinions on the seller's items.
