And what makes it even more confusing is because of so many new plants coming on line and older ones being closed down, there are quite a few bags that are probably genuine but have mistakes especially in the creed and serial number. You have to try and decide if what would normally be a red flag was a legitimate production mistake due to new plants and employees, many of whom didn't have English as their first language, or whether the mistakes are just not explainable even by the combination of carelessness, inexperience, and lack of effective quality control (and maybe even sometimes by a touch of sabotage by plant employees).
As DemRam said, some of the classic fakes are so accurate that there's always going to be a little uncertainty as to whether they're fake or whether the plant employees just didn't "read the memo". There are no simple rules for those oddball bags, every one requires a judgement call based on experience and understanding that Coach products, plants and employees were NEVER perfect, regardless of what some online Guides may claim. Mistakes were made and bags were screwed up and still released for sale. And all too often it's almost impossible to say for sure what's real and what's fake.

You're welcome!
Are you referring to the "Coach Originals" section of the Coach website? If so, there are no specific indicators I can list here.
There were and are many well made "fakes" of some of those Classic leather bags, so it's always best to study the real ones so you can get familiar with what to look for. The counterfeiters always get something wrong.
The link below to "Hyacinth's Fakes List" is a good place to start getting familiar with what to run away from.
