It looks ok to me. The style was just called the Classic Hobo and it's from between 1989 and 1993. It should clean up very well if you're going to rehab it, and a few applications of conditioner will do wonders. I think they listed for between $185 and $195 during that time period. Nice find! :smile1:

That's wonderful news, thank you!

I see nothing that indicates that the bag is fake.

The seller received a negative feedback for a sale of the same bag in which the buyer alleged that the bag is fake.

I think the buyer is WRONG and based on the BUYER'S feedback, IMO, she's a troublemaker. The BUYER should be on any seller's BBL:

Other opinions are certainly welcome but the bag in question looks exactly as it should look.

You have totally made my day! I am actually the seller that is having major issues with this buyer. The purse was purchased by my mom from our local Coach store so I know its authentic. I shipped the purse to the buyer and an hour after she received it, I got a nasty message saying the purse is fake. I emailed her back saying where it was purchased and that it is authentic but she never responded. Instead I find out she opened a claim. In the claim she stated that she would be ok with a partial refund. I know the purse is authentic so I refuse to give her a partial refund. Instead I offered to refund her money once I receive my purse back (and after I verify it is my purse). Instead of responding to my message, she left me the terrible feed back and has asked eBay to settle the dispute. I don't know what else she wants. I think she is trying to scam me but I don't know what else I can do.

Obviously, IMO, this buyer is a scammer. She just wants the item from less than she paid for it and she clearly uses this tactic to try to strongarm sellers into giving her what she wants.

If she believes the bag is fake, how would a partial refund change authenticity?

Respond to the dispute that the bag is absolutely authentic and don't give in to her demands. She's already negged you so you have nothing to lose by sticking to your guns.

Post that you'll refund her on receipt of the return of the item in the same condition that you sent it. You'll probably have to refund her original shipping but return shipping will be at her expense.

Wait for other opinions to see if there are other suggestions on what to do.

ETA: I recommend that you send the buyer a link to your posts and authentications and if she needs reassurance, we can answer her questions.

I am placing this here, even though the Coach authenticators BeenBurned, Hyacinth and StarryMaz have already authenticated in private for me, because the seller is still trying to pawn off this wallet as a real Coach.

1. The trim is not leather, but vinyl
2. Stitching wrong, and the signature "C" print is a mess around the stitching
3. Coach stamp on metal buckle is backwards and crooked
4. Coach embossing inside wallet on checkbook cover is upside down

I asked for a pic of the inside and the creed - she did add the inside, but the creed is not clear - do I need to ask for a close up or can you tell from the ones posted? I seem some dirt marks, but if this is real, it's worth a try to see if some TLC will rescue this cute little one.

Seller is new (but you have to start somewhere, right?) and, from the looks of her items, is cleaning out her closet.

We need to see a clear and legible head-on picture of the creed.

This could be one of the exceptions to the centered/matched signature pattern rule but the style number on the creed is necessary along with a picture.

She added a clear creed pic - do you need anything else or can you render a verdict by the pics shown?

Oooh-la-la! If this is real, I'm so buying it!

I've seen some like it before, but never in good enough condition to even bother asking anyone to take the time to authenticate! Keeping my fingers crossed, because I just Love this!

Seller said she added a pic of the creed to the listing.

I know it's taboo to speak of price - but can anyone give me a range of what they were selling for in their time? This is the only one I can find on e bay right now, so I'm unsure how high to bid.

And ditto for this Ergo if it's authentic!

And this friendly seller also said she added a pic of the creed. Verdict?

Comments: Thank you.
1. I don't recommend madammanhattan for several reasons.

Private listings offer no way to see the seller's past history plus, there are too many opportunities for sellers to "hide" other violations in private listings.

IMO, in a category like handbags and accessories, there is little valid reason for sellers to have private listings.

Additionally, nearly all the seller's listings use at least one stolen stock photo and some listings have NO pictures of the actual item.

For example, this listing shows no pictures of the actual bag but uses 3 of Coach's copyrighted stock photos.

2. This seller also uses a Coach stock picture for the gallery photo in addition to her own pictures. Again, for a seller who has a camera and knows how to use it, there's no reason for stock photos.

There should be a few more pictures including a photo of the creed and a picture showing the interior lining.

Do not buy from annatownspecialty. The seller sells fake Coach wallets as well as fake RayBans.

I don't see any problems with the bag in the listing.

I can't read the number on the creed but if it's 10483, it's one of the styles I had in mind that "broke the rule" regarding the matching and centering of the C pattern.

The following are front and back pictures of authentic bags. The center back seams on this style were attrocious! (It's one of those "what was Coach thinking when they did that" questions.)

This is the back of a different bag, also sadly mismatched:

The same style also came in black, similarly mismatched. The following pics are front and back of a black bag.
