The bag is authentic. (I also saw these Ergo bags at the same discounters.)Hi, TPF ladies. Still learning to navigate my way around here. Please authenticate this Coach bag for me.
Style Name: Z Ergo Leather Crossbody (SV/TO)
Style No.: Z16252
Serial No.: H1093-Z16252
I bought this at a popular discount retailer (not sure if I can mention the name here). It did come with the Coach price tag and brown dust bag w/ the new horse and carriage logo on them. The leather is thick, reminds me of the old Coach in the mid 90s (not thin like an ergo hobo I had in 2008) and smells like them, too, when newly purchased. I'm only 50/50 convinced it's real because of the 3 bottom right corner stitches being overlapping (doubled) shown in the last picture. It also has tattersall lining but no "coach" all over it, and the serial number has a Z on it. However, the inside pocket zipper does have the YKK and the bag seems well-made, and the "A" on the "COACH" on the hangtag and creed is pointed on top, not rounded like the fakes. Sorry this is rather long. TIA.
The "Z" in the serial number appears to be a new indication Coach is using to indicate that the bags were sold at discounters such as Nordstrom's Rack, TJ Maxx, Filene's Basement, Marshalls, etc.) In the past, they used to stamp the bags with an "X."
Regarding the overlapped stitching, I think you're referring to the backtacking that is on the corners of the creed. On most items (clothing included), the stitching is backtacked in order to keep it from unraveling.
As for the YKK zipper, zipper brand doesn't prove or disprove authenticity. Coach has used several different brands of zippers over the years so even if a back has a different brand of zipper, it could be authentic. And 99% of the fakes have zippers that say YKK.
