Item: Maroon Court Bag?
Listing number: NA
Seller: Salvation Army Thrift Store
Link: NA
Comments: Please authenticate this bag which I believe is a Court Bag. I think that it was made in the late 1980s or early 1990s. The serial number has 7 digits total (4 digits plus 3 digits) and all numbers. I didn't get a very good pic of the creed but it says "Made in the United States". Do you know what this color is called? I have been calling it maroon but it's kind of a dull red. Thanks in advance for your help!

The bag's fine, but the color was probably just called Red. I only have a few color pics from the late 80s and early 90s and the only other shade was a Maroon which was a lot darker.

Maybe Dem Ram has more info on the red shades.

Too bad the seller didn't listen to my advice:

Can someone check the LVs? I'm still looking over the Coaches but there's at least one fake with a -9956 serial number.

Make that TWO fake Coaches with a -9956 number - 2 different styles too.

Three and counting...

Plus the "LV" backpack... check out the stitching, especially on the trim around the inside pocket.

Those are the same "at least 3" fake Coach bags I found.

The LV backpack is fake. I don't know about the LV wallet or the Fendi.

Thank you! I may be able to judge the color better after I clean it and condition it.

I agree...as Hyacinth said it's probably just caller "Red". The only color chart I have with red shades has "Red" or "Burgundy" (and as Hyacinth mentioned, the Burgundy is very, very dark).

The only other red colors I've seen were "Hunting Red" on a late 60's list, and "Scarlet" on a Madison line choice, and "Tomato" on the Sonoma color choice.

Not much help by me, but the bag is very nice.

Good to know, thanks! One of the reasons I bought it was because I thought that the color was a little unusual. Coach currently offers the Court Bag in black, brown, and british tan. Do you know if the red version was available for a long time - or is it less common as I suspect?

I ran across this bag on the internet and just received it yesterday. Upon close inspection it doesn't appear authentic. I will be taking more pictures but for know this is what I have. Don't know the name.

The large buckle in front and on the strap do not have COACH on it like other bags. The inside is clean, but the zipper doesn't have YKK on it.

Also the strap handle is rough leather on the underside.

Comments: I've never seen these before - just wondering if there's any chance they are authentic.

TIA!
Some of the pictures have a yahoo address on them, hard to tell if seller is stealing them or it's their own pictures.

Items ARE authentic, as they were made for the magazine promo's, but with 12$ (and prev. buyer mentioned seller only paid 3$ for the cost to ship to them in the US from HK) for shipping it's your call.

I must say the bag was not real and I feel really bad for the things i said i have learned a good lesson because someone tell u its real they could be wrong so sorry and i dont sell fake bag or if i do i didnt know. you really helped me alot .

Again - Not all Coaches have YKK zippers OR "Coach" stamped on the hardware !!!

In fact, if you have bags with Coach stamped on the strap O-rings or any clip attached to the strap, you need to post photos here because it's possible that they're fake.

And speaking of photos - we need larger pics showing more details, please, especially of the creed patch and serial number. Don't bother with photos of the zipper - in fact, please read the many posts in the Answers to Authenticity Questions thread about YKK zippers. And if you still have the link to the page where you bought the bag, please post that too. I'm seeing a possible problem with the creed stamping but we need to be able to see it clearly and to read the serial number. If the lining isn't attached to the bottom seams you can just gently pull it out so that you can take a clear head-on closeup of the creed patch - Macro setting, please.

And if you can unbuckle the strap and take a pic using the Macro setting of the rough leather you mentioned, that would help. Try to get the end of the strap showing both kinds of leather in the photo.

Did you know it was in such rough condition before you bought it?
