There are a couple of possibilities here, neither of which make the bag authentic.

Possibility #1: The seller isn't telling the truth about going to a Coach store.

Possibility #2: The seller went to a Coach store and they looked up style 6383. It is true that 6383 is a legitimate style number and in this case, the authentic version does resemble the bag in the listing.

That said, the rest of the serial number is invalid. The spacing and stitching on the creed are not as they should be and the unmatched, misaligned and uncentered pattern are further proof that the bag is definitely fake. (There appear to be other problems with the bag but without better closeups, it's hard to tell.)

If you think the seller might learn something from this forum, direct her to this post.

Another thing you should point out to her is that she should read the text on the creed. It states that the bag is made of leather, clearly incorrect!

The auction has now been ended.

I noticed that the seller did the right thing.

Comments: Purchased this bag and there is no Coach creed inside. (Photo also shows) Does that mean it's fake? It says Made in India.
The bag is authentic.

Coach makes bags in many different countries, India being one of them.

Many of Coach's smaller accessories such as wristlets, swingpacks, pouches, cosmetic cases, etc., may or may not have creeds, may have creeds but with or without serial numbers.

This listing is an example of one without a creed and it's fine.

I guess my problem is the Coach store I went to said it was fake. I guess the girl may have only worked there a short time, but I didn't think it was fake. That's why I came here. Are Coach employees trained to authenticate?

Unfortunately, that a fairly common problem.

DId you tell them that you bought the item from ebay? If so, they've been known to lie and declare authentic items as fake just because they hate ebay and don't want their customers to be resellers or to buy from resellers.

Or as you said, they may not be familiar with the item. Most of the employees at Coach stores and/or outlets are familiar with the items that are currently on the selling floor and most haven't been there long enough to know the older items (and by older, I don't even mean "vintage," but rather I refer to items that are sold out.)

Coach employees are NOT trained to authenticate.

Yes, I did tell them I bought it on eBay. But it's good to know they aren't trained to authenticate. Thank you for letting me know. I'm so happy it's real! I was a bit worried! :sweatdrop:

I will make sure to come here instead of the Coach store!
I appreciate your help! :D

Please help authenticate this bag.

As always, much appreciation :D

Comments: the zip in the last photo looks strange, doesn't it??

#1 look OK to me. It's a "Casino Bag" from 2000 which really isn't exactly vintage. Coach made many bags with "silver/nickel" colored hardware.

#2 looks OK also. It's the "Court Bag" and it's from 2001. Again, not exactly vintage.
