Sorry, the "Frumpy Grandmas" are taking a break and will be back after they've changed their support hose.

Or after they've received an apology.

The post vanished in the forum crash but Google's cached version didn't.

Lol. Almost sad that thread got lost in the outage. :)

LOLOLOL! I know the answer to the question but I'll keep my mouth shut :giggles:

Of course, it's remotely possible that there might be an answer somewhere in the Answers to Authenticity Questions thread if one were to just start reading. You know, the thread put together by the members here, including a whole bunch of Frumpy Grandmas - who freely give up their own personal time to find answers for other posters, most of whom actually manage to avoid insulting the people they're asking for help.

Just sayin'.

LOL I'm a 22 year old frumpy grandma and proud of it! I only like vintage leather coach...the new stuff isn't at all appealing to me especially sig stuff when so many people carry around the fake versions where I live ugh!

Oh, I feel bad for the OP. I seriously don't think she meant any offense. I am guilty of many an "open mouth-insert foot" moment myself :smile1:

ETA: I get the sense that the poster really does love vintage bags, but is worried she can't "pull off" the look without feeling self-consious. I'm 34, and a mom of 2 (i.e. body isn't what it used to be!) and find myself liking some of the new style clothing (i.e. skinny jeans, leggings, etc), but am worried that when I try to wear these styles, I look like I'm trying to look like a 20-something. I can imagine that a youngster wanting to wear vintage bags might feel the same way, kwim?

I purchased these on ebay and I would like to know if they are authentic and if you have any other information on them. One is a scribble and one is an Op. Thanks in advance ladies! I'm sorry I haven't been on in awhile....I'm in summer school, hence the retail therapy ;).

Nothing wrong with a little bag therapy! :D

They both look ok although other opinions are welcome.

Sure, but with age comes the knowledge that wearing what you like brings its own kind of confidence. While I probably wouldn't wear most Poppy styles (or put down people who do), I have a few in the Tartan and enjoy wearing them. And I LOVE my Scribble bags, it doesn't matter if other people think they're too young for me. I see them as a subtle satire on the regular Signature patterns - my way of telling Coach not to take themselves too seriously.

And yep, I've put my foot in my mouth occasionally too. I know "frumpy grandma" seems to be a fairly common expression - the grandma part doesn't bother me but lumping people together by their age and what sort of bag they carry, especially in a forum devoted to bags, probably isn't a good idea. And "frumpy" can NEVER be mistaken for a compliment.

I hope I've made my point and at least given people something to think about.

I have noticed that many of the purses from the 90s and early 2000s have this kind of format in the first part of the serial number (before the hyphen): letter - number - letter - for example "F8D", while many of the recent purses have a letter followed by four numbers - for example "H1093".

When did Coach stop using letters after the digits indicating the year? Thanks in advance for your answer.
