Oooh!

Item: Vintage Coach Bonnie Cashin Carry Leather Purse Handbag

could it be real?

It might be based on a Cashin design but I doubt if it was made while Cashin was with Coach. The seller seems to have a problem with age designations, her other "vintage" Coach items are not vintage if you use the criterion that vintage means 20 years old or more. DemRam is better with Cashin designs than I am, maybe she can take a look.

ETA - Whoops, sniped! :D

Hyacinth is absolutely correct. I had my identical bag authenticated by the Cashin Foundation.

The word was that the Skinny Tote was designed by Cashin but Coach later "adapted" or changed the design slightly. The "adaptation" was made AFTER Cashin's departure from Coach.

DemRam: Is this the one you mean?

That one is way, way more expensive and in a lot better shape.

That is identical to the one you asked about:

Let me see if I can find my pictures of the original "Skinny Tote" so you can see the difference.

Be right back.

Edited to add: Note the differences in the original bag, which is posted below. It has rolled handles and the bag is constructed differently.

Actually, I think they improved the design since I'm a fan of longer shoulder straps and the original didn't have them.

This is a vintage Beekman Briefcase. It is about 16" long. The Willis is about 11" long (best to my recollection without looking it up. The Beeman Brief is also taller and deeper than a Willis.

It is a vintage bag and may look worse or better then the photos. Sometimes flash brings out all the flaws that are not necessarily seen with the eye.

Comments: I thought this was a willis bag at first but the creed looks different. This may be over by the time anyone looks at it.

Is this authentic? I am told the bag is in like new condition and was offered this bag for $75. I think it's a Madison Op Art Maggie Bag in Black/Gray and I think that would be a good deal. Thank you!

I'm sad that this bag is almost certainly fake. I'd love a crescent flap in this color. Alas!

Save an "advanced search" on ebay for Coach 9235 and for Coach Crescent. Also check the box to "include description".

You may get emails from ebay with a bunch of nonsense, but if you really want the Crescent bag, I'm sure one will turn up at some point. Patience is the key!

Thank you, ladies! :smile1:

@DemRam - I think that this type of bag will be alright for me since I'm only a 5'3" girl. There is another tote that I really like but the strap hang drop is only 6", which would surely be uncomfortable. On the other hand, I think that the 11" will be ok. Thanks again!

BeenBurned once advised me to use a ruler to draw out the dimensions of a bag on paper to see if the size is likely to work for me.

I've done that several times and it is excellent advice, it really makes a difference when you can actually see the size, because photos can be unintentionally deceptive.
