Hi BeenBurned! Thanks for your answer earlier. Since no one else has responded to my post, would you please explain how you know the serial number is invalid? This is a purse that I recently bought on ebay, it was one of two in the auction (however, these are my pictures). I know the other one is authentic, but I believe this one is fake - I would really appreciate some backing opinions/reasons for this purse so that I can contact the seller about it without seeming like I'm trying to be manipulative. I've never gotten myself in this situation before, so I don't know what to expect from them in response. The seller never responded to my other messages (I wanted to buy insurance), so I want to keep it simple and support my opinion so that there's no need for back and forth (in case they do answer!). I really appreciate your help, and any information you--or anyone else--can give me as to why it is (or isn't) fake!
In addition to the fact that it's a known fake number that's appeared on at least a dozen proveably fake bags - and at a time when each serial number Coach used was unique and would only ever have appeared on ONE single bag - there are a lot of small details in the construction of your bag that are wrong. I'm not going to go into detail, the fake number is proof enough, but let's just say that most of the hardware on your bag was never used by Coach and even the creed stamping is "off". You can refer your seller to the Fakes Numbers list here or to Daria's list at the Ebay Shoes & Purses forum.
And please tell your seller that she can log in to the Shoes & Purses forum at Ebay and ask the experts there to tell her if the purse she sold is real or counterfeit. Any Ebay member is always welcome to ask questions about authenticity:

The current Fake Numbers list is at the Answers to Authenticity Questions thread here at tPF along with a lot of other information that you should read.

If you go back to around page 18, that's where I started consolidating a lot of the information I've put together over the years to make it easier to find. Your bag's serial number also appears on the original list and has been a known fake number for quite a while.
