I don't recommend the first seller. That seller has a long history of using stolen pictures. If you right-click on the pictures and see the properties, many are stolen from Amazon or from various Japanese websites.

The second one looks good.

(in response to post #654 on pg. 44) "It's fake. The serial number is an invalid one."

Hi BeenBurned! Thanks for your answer earlier. Since no one else has responded to my post, would you please explain how you know the serial number is invalid? This is a purse that I recently bought on ebay, it was one of two in the auction (however, these are my pictures). I know the other one is authentic, but I believe this one is fake - I would really appreciate some backing opinions/reasons for this purse so that I can contact the seller about it without seeming like I'm trying to be manipulative. I've never gotten myself in this situation before, so I don't know what to expect from them in response. The seller never responded to my other messages (I wanted to buy insurance), so I want to keep it simple and support my opinion so that there's no need for back and forth (in case they do answer!). I really appreciate your help, and any information you--or anyone else--can give me as to why it is (or isn't) fake!

I went back to copy that post (to make it easier for others) plus, I didn't remember what the post was:

Hi, I'm a new member but longtime reader of TPF!
Name: "Coach" No. 012-3445
Sorry, there's no current auction or link to report for this.
Comments: I see a lot of potential problems with this, but don't know enough about the xxx-xxxx number/Leatherware era bags to be be 100% sure (I've been surprised before)... Many thanks for your help!

You said there wasn't a current auction to report, but when a purchase came from ebay, you should still give the seller's ID. Often, a peek at a seller's current, completed and feedback history gives a lot of insight into the integrity of the seller.

In answer to your question about the fake serial number, I do know there's a post here somewhere, but since I'm more familiar with the ebay boards, here's a link to Daria's fake serial number thread.

There's a good amount of info in the first post but throughout the thread, other helpful information was added. There's a wealth of information in the thread.

Wow, thanks so much! I really appreciate it!

Title: Signature Legacy shoulder bag
no seller or auction number
comments: From a friend's collection. She no longer wants it, so we want to verify authenticity before doing anything else. I don't own signature, so I don't know much about this style. Thanks!

Item: Coach Large Brown Carly
Listing number:270445464912
Seller: smiledjaak789
Link:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270445464912&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
Comments: Something bothers me about this Carly. The stitching is white on the leather trim and its supposed to be brown. Also, the coach hang tag looks strange too. Any opinions?

Ugh! All of the Coach items this seller has sold are fake, including a fake Zoe, fake Sabrinas, and the fake Carly. The Carly is fake for the reasons you described, the stitching on the hangtag is the wrong color, and the dust bag is fake too.

I've been reporting that seller's items since May 17.

So what made this a fake? I have one extremely similair and would like to know what what indicators make this fake?

Well, there is the plastic on the handles, the hangtag is wrong, the retail tag is wrong and the inside lining is wrong. With only a few exceptions( I think) signature on the outside has a solid color lining. Also didn't it have a metal hangtag? Carly has a leather one. I hope that yours doesn't have these things. Can you post pics? Someone will verify it for you.

Paula
