Yes, that one is fake. It also has the wrong lining and the date code is too early for the style. I'd love the red one if my name was Vera!

The black one is fake too, and the serial number A8M-4896 is on the Fakes Lists here and at Ebay, AND it has the older "scars, scratches" creed that had been discontinued at least three years BEFORE the date code in the serial number:

"A8M-4896 - style number belongs ONLY to an all-leather 7x4 club- or disco-style Swing Wallet on a thin 50-inch strap first made in 1995"

It also has brass hardware with silver strap grommets. It might be a VERY good idea to avoid handbag auctions by ROOP8524 until they learn to get their items authenticated, or at least to use one of the Fake Numbers Lists!

Good catch H! I stopped looking when I got to the J4D creed. I feel sorry for the buyer, unless they think that red one is worth the price of the whole lot.

I have this bag in my possession, and I am having doubts. I need your opinion to return it if necessary. Thank you so much in advance, for your help and patience.

Size is approx. 10 x 7.

Etsy seller GutsyGirls

This bag has a zipper closure, and the other 4082 styles I have seen have a magnetic snap closure. I ask the seller for a pic of the creed, I am attaching. Thanks ladies
If you do a search on this thread for GutsyGirls, you'll find quite a lot of information about this seller, who is definitely not a favorite around here! Surprisingly for this seller, this bag is authentic but it has been altered. Someone added a zipper, not Coach.

Authentic. The clutch is called turnlock clutch.
Yay! Thanks, Whateve :smile1:

Nice finds! LOVE the clutch. I've never seen it before.
Thanks, I hadn't seen anything like it either. I'm leaning towards keeping it since rehabbing Coach bags is becoming my job now since I'm otherwise unemployed. I'm thinking it would look nice if I have to look professional until I get my musette or carrier...or even after I finally get it! (Job or the bag, haha!)

I don't see any problems. What concerns do you have?

I am far from expert, so even with the guides and reading these forums, what I learned is that to be sure, you have to be aware of many details.

In this case I got the bag, because 1) I had not seen one like it, 2) in the pictures looked OK to me and 3) it was cheap LOL. Once I received it I thought the zipper looks a bit chunky with no markings at all, and then I read about the creeds with the "o" too big, etc... If I could have found one similar to compare, may be I would have not doubt it, but I have no idea how is called or year.

I don't think the "o" is too big. The creeds we have been talking about were all dated after 1994. This is a pre 1994 creed with a unique serial number. It matches other creeds I have in my files from the early 90s. It is not unusual for a zipper to not have any markings.

It looks like the spectator version of this bag: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Soft-and-Sw...653?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5649dba825

It was called a slim zip bag.

As an aside, did you read this seller's description? She says "[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]I am not authoried (sic) to authenticate any item and am expressly forbidden to do so by law."

Is there a law against authenticating? :wtf:
