Okay we now have a purple Coach Station bag....I've NEVER seen a purple Station bag. Can we not report her to Coach? If they never made any of these bags in these colors and they tun out to be counterfeits etc can Coach get her removed off Etsy?

https://www.etsy.com/listing/239496673/vintage-coach-bright-purple-station?

Don't EVER report a Coach based just on color! You don't know what colors Coach may have made - and they DID make a purple Station Bag, in 1993.

There are only 2 Coaches in her listings I'm worried about, and there's no way to tell if they're ok or not without creed and serial photos.

I partly blame Etsy for the problem since they only allow 5 photos per listing, which is really stupid when an item's authenticity needs to be proven.

While I think that bag is okay, I have issues with seattlegoodwill as well as other Goodwill sellers and charity sellers.

They make little or no effort to verify authenticity of their items and charity or not, they shouldn't be selling fakes.

This is a post from November when seattlegoodwill had fake Coach items.

And earlier this month, another listing for a fake Coach bangle bracelet was reported and removed. This was a cache of the listing.

Thanks BB. I agree and particularly when they are listing for sale online. I've talked to the cashiers and manager of my local GW and they insist that they do not guarantee any of their bags are designer or otherwise but just "as is" (even as they put $30 and $40 and higher price tags on some of their bags). But the very act of listing something online and calling it a Coach-- or any other designer name-- calls for authenticity and responsibility for same.

Someone asked for an authentication of a purple station bag, quite awhile ago. I can't remember if we were able to authenticate it, but I don't think we said it was definitely fake.

ETA: Here it is - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Willis-Crossbody-Authentic-Vintage-USA-/111723615116?rmvSB=true
And here is the discussion: http://forum.purseblog.com/showpost.php?p=28920359&postcount=8082

We decided it had been dyed.

FYI: Usually an easy, quick-glance way to determine if a bag has been dyed, especially darker ones, is to look at the square cut, unskived, edge of the binding. When hides are processed and dyed, there's only so much penetration. The square cut edges usually expose some of the raw leather. To address this, edgepainting was was invented. These edges usually absorb some color during redying (since they're practically impossible to mask), but its a challenge to get the color uniform on the "suedey" edge. That's pretty obvious when you zoom in on the photos of the aforementioned "purple" Willis.

And yes, I've seen bags where an "artisan" has taken the time and effort to use a different shade to add some contrast to the binding which indeed in the old days indeed, by virtue of being from different hides and even leather types, was common and in fact quite pronounced in some colors. Though with the correct brush doing so is not challenging, it is time consuming. I tip my hat to whoever thought to do that on that Willis. It's a nice touch. But they certainly should have disclosed that the bag was recolored. In all likelihood, a little bit of acetone on a cotton-tip swab would reveal the underlyig color.

Vintageair is not very responsive. I sent a friendly message months ago when I was browsing and saw that one of their bags had an inaccurate description. I have sometimes copied my own listings to reuse on another same or similar item only to discover that I didn't edit some part of the description, and so I was trying to be friendly and helpful. I got a very brief reply from "Tien" and the listing is still exactly as it was. Perhaps you will get a better response if you seem like a customer.

(It's a Janice's Legacy described as having a front flap with turn lock closure and two pockets.)

I think I'm going to stay away from Etsy. That place scares me when it comes to Coach and way over priced. Also, one last question and I'll leave you ladies be. With the Willis I have been trying to get the older quality bags either new or like new. I have been able to get them from 1994, 95, and 96. I think one of you mentioned to try to get them from 2000 and before and it didn't matter if it was Usa made or not. Did they start going down in quality and the leather not so thick 2001 and on? So if they are from other countries but 2000 and prior are they still the high quality of leather? Thanks, this will help with what I continue to buy.
I've had some wonderful bags that were made in 2001. The leather couldn't be better. I don't have any classics that were made in China so I don't know if the quality went down when they first switched to China. I'd say that I've seen recent classics at the outlets in the last few years and they were horrible.

I've had great bags from Costa Rica, Turkey, Italy, and the Dominican Republic.

Great! That helps a lot and I will expand my search as I was looking for 2000 and prior. I'll have more choice now! ;)

I'll also share that I've had several Hungarian-made (U plant) #9927 Willis bags from 1998 pass through my shop that were terrific quality-wise. Very well put together from sturdy materials.

I have another key chain that I'm not sure about. Could you authenticate? TIA

The fact is that it doesn't matter whether it's being sold in the store or online, nor does it matter whether they say they "aren't selling as authentic."

Any and every item is required by law to be authentic.

That keychain is fake. Some fakes try to copy a style Coach makes (or made). This keychain isn't close to any legitimate style.

There are also some styles that weren't made until 2000 or so that are really nice. I was blown away by the quality of my Legacy drawstring 9165 made in 2001. Absolutely wonderful leather.

I'm not sure whether it's been updated yet but AFAIK, I can't find a single J9H authentic bag. Hyacinth/Salearea's guides mention the prefix as having been seen on fakes.

Can it be determined that all J9H bags are fake? From what I'm seeing, all seem to be fake but the style numbers on them are "correct" for the style they are copying.

Here's a current listing to be looked at please:
Bag claiming to be 9791
seller shes*got*purse*sonality
Item number - 111876792581

ETA: shes*got*purse*sonality also sold this fake:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Auth-COACH-...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

and another sold fake:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Authentic-C...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

I can't recommend shes*got*purse*sonality or shes got purse sonality.

The creed from above:

For comparison, here are a few more J9H:

This bag is a wool bag and is not what 7720 looks like. (Listing was already removed so I'm posting pictures from a cached copy)

Comment: Month code N invalid? Need second opinion please.
Wait for other opinions on the bag from psuchez.

But so far, the only other 9165 bags I've found with N prefixes (but also different prefixes) were fake.
