The discussion about the lining in the vintage (?) wallet sent me on a search to see if I could find any other items with that lining.

While my search for the same lining wasn't productive, I did find this and I question the authenticity of this "expert's" Bonnie Cashin bag.

The label looks odd and the lining with the raw edges and cheap machine stitching doesn't look like any BC item I've ever seen.

The lining, quality, stitching and texture don't look right.

Curious for other opinions. (Not looking to buy and I personally have no intention of contacting the blogger.)

Coach Willis bag 9927

Bought at an estate sale over the weekend

Comments : My mother-in-law bought this thinking it was black then got home and realized it was gray. She thinks it's fake simply because she has never seen this color. It looks real to me but I'm no expert. please authenticate. If this is authentic was there an official color name for this shade of gray that has a bit of a brown tinge? Thanks a lot for your expertise

It's authentic. I don't know whether it's gray or faded black; Whateve would probably know.

Well the woman she bought it from said it's never been used and it appears to have never been used so I I don't believe it's faded.. but I could be wrong. Also, because it's gray and not black like she wanted she may want to post it for sale in her condo community. If there is an actual name of the color she would like to use it in case an interested buyer wants to look it up on the Internet etc.. She said she couldn't find anything online. Her thinking is that if she thought it was fake someone else may pick it up, think it's fake also if they can't find that color online. And I can see her point
Yes, it's gray. I don't know the official name. Back in the 80s, there was a flannel gray but I don't know if they used the same name for this one.

Happy Monday! :smile1:
I would appreciate it if I could get an opinion on the Coach wallets/accessories pictured in the below photobucket link please. They all look good to me. Thanks in advance!

FYI - The Coach keychain attached to the wristlet pictured in the link has already received an opinion of authenticity here last week. I now know it is supposed to be a valet piece but is missing its other half and have attached it to the wristlet as an extra item (I will of course ensure that any description of the keychain fully explains that it is missing one part). :peace:

I reported her other bracelet creation but I wasn't sure about this one. The pictures aren't clear enough.

the only thing that looks a little odd is the blanket stitching on the lining. There is another one on ebay and it has the same blanket stitching. http://www.ebay.com/itm/BONNIE-CASH...551999?hash=item33973ae73f:g:w2gAAOSwajVURApA
I've seen similar stitching on a few other items.

The lining fabric matches other Cashins I've owned and the label looks fine.

I reported her other bracelet creation but I wasn't sure about this one. The pictures aren't clear enough.

The first one is ok. There were a few different bag styles with the same style number 1743, here's a Tote with the same uneven cartouche:

The bracelet was originally on a lanyard. I wouldn't consider taking the lanyard off as a major modification. Coach rearranged the Charms a bit between the website photo and final production to keep the bracelet balanced, The hardware including the clip and all the rings are identical to the original, style 7a08.

Thanks. I was pretty sure they were authentic. I didn't read her description on the bracelet. For the other bracelet linked below, she said she made it out of a keychain so I thought it was the same. I reported the other one because the charms were fake, not because of her modification. I think modification is permissible as long as it is disclosed.

The color is absolutely correct for the year - in fact I own EXACTLY the same Willis from the same plant and year and was thrilled to find one in that color. It was just called Dark Grey and it's shown as being available on the Willis with nickle hardware from at least late 1998 through late 1999.

The color isn't shown on the actual bag in the Holiday 1998 catalog photo below but it IS listed in the description. No one who knows anything about Coach would ever question it. Grey wasn't a commonly used leather color on classic and vintage Coaches and it's always nice to see one,

I agree - and which would you rather have, a lanyard with a useless bracelet hanging from it, or an actual bracelet you could wear? Easy decision.

And yep, that fake black one IS pretty bad.

^^^^ This listing from iluvmypurses is fake.

For the record, I reported 2 fake Coach bags in November, 2015. The seller isn't as careful as she should be.

Thank you so much!!

While reporting a counterfeit Coach wallet from this seller, I came across an oddball listing in her completed/sold listings.

I'd like opinions on the bag. (It appears to be either 10124 or 10125, both of which are highly and well-faked.)

Just considering the serial number for now, that's dated at exactly the same time Coach was changing from the 4-digit, and sometimes even 3-digit, style numbers they used up until 2005 and even into 2006, to the 5-digit style numbers. The 2 formats crossed over, the earliestI 5-digit one I've seen was an M053-10307, and also a style 10001 with a B06Q- month code, and a 10015 with a B06W- prefix. But they were also still making bags with 3-digit style numbers well into the middle of 2006

So it's completely possible that they would have used a 3-number style number in a pilot bag made at the very start of 2006, before the style number change took effect through all the plants, and a number in the 800s fits the time range. 10125 was officially a late summer or early Fall 2006 release although they apparently started making them in Spring 2006, I think. So I don't have any problem with the number.

And if that hasn't bored you completely - as for the bag's details, the leather tab for the top clip is pretty badly sewn, but that could probably happen with pilot bags. And if it is an actual pilot, some of the details would have been tweaked a bit before full production anyway. So yes, I THINK it's ok but like "sample" bags, it's hard to give a solid authentication.
