Comment: creed is blurry but it looks dreadful. Just confirming its a fake before reporting

YUCK !!!

Not just the creed, but it's a completely fake style that Coach never made, the leather is really badly wrinkled and damaged from overprocessing, the stamp on the front is crooked, the hardware is wrong, the ends and edges of the zipper are a mess and not even sewn down, the serial number font isn't right, and the creed is unreadable. What a POS!

Good morning - 2:15 am here but I need to do this before I get to bed or I won't be able to sleep.:panic:
I just had a customer request a return because my bag is "fake" and although I do accept returns for any reason - of course I do not want it to be for THAT reason.
Please offer your opinion and information about this item so that hopefully I can assure the buyer
that it is indeed a real Coach.
As always, much appreciated!

That's absolutely RIDICULOUS. I own that exact bag, it's a Scribble Stitch File Bag, mine was made in December 2004 and has a serial number M04K-1858, same as yours, There's absolutely NO DOUBT that the one in your listing is genuine. I've owned 4 Scribble Stitch bags and the matching wristlet and that style is almost impossible to fake just because of the quality and precision of the embroidery. I've only seen one fake where they tried to duplicate the embroidery and the crooks did such a lousy job that a blind man could have spotted it.

And it IS very rare, I doubt if I've seen more than 3 or 4 of the File Bags on Ebay in the last 8 or 9 years. The Pocket Flaps and the 2 Satchels show up occasionally but the Flie Bags are very scarce. I'm pretty sure ALL the Scribble Stitch styles were listed in the catalog as Limited Editions.

Your buyer is 100 percent wrong.

Thank you Hyacinth and Beenburned!
As usual the depth of knowledge and willingness to share is greatly appreciated !

I know we've seen fakes from this seller in the past but I had (almost) forgotten about her! That is until I saw one of her listings and decided to look further.

Thought I'd confirm:

Hi & Hope Everyone has been doing well :)

This is one of my finds & I hope it's authentic, but I'm doubtful.

It measures about 11 inches tall by 12 wide by 7 across the bottom. The strap drop is 19 inches in or so in the holes pictured. The creed reads J8Y-9953, USA. I'm suspicious of the round slip pocket inside, sloppy stitching on the zip pull & the hardware under the buckle. TIA for any help!

Many Thanks. Have a nice day :)

Wait for more opinions, but I'm wondering about 2 details. The Made In China tag on the inside seems more opaque than the other ones I've seen in recent bags.

And the magnetic snap is a brand I've never seen before and not the same brand that Coach always uses and used in the other examples of the same style bag that are listed on Ebay. For the last 8 or 10 years Coach has used snaps made by ROMAG or COMAG (same company) that have a valid US Patent number on them. This one has one that says LONGBOOM with no other markings. Has anyone seen this brand on recent bags that have been bought directly from Coach?

Top pic, same style number with a COMAG snap, Pics 2&3 are the bag being asked about with the LONGBOOM snap and an A1376 plant and date code. Pic 4 is from another bag with the same exact plant and date code but with a COMAG snap.

There's also a BIG difference in the number of stitches on the sides of the creed between two bags in the same style from the same plant, month and year. THAT worries me. Would a patent leather patch have 4 or 5 fewer stitches than a smooth leather patch with the same serial number and codes?

ETA - Here's another one in the same color combo but with SMOOTH leather trim and patch, NOT patent, and the same A1376 plant codes. It also has more stitches in the patch.

Yes, you're right. They are all fake. The font on the last two matches a lot of fakes we've seen.
1. Pink? Ew! Even if it were authentic, it would not be a trail bag! The P plant code was only used for Costa Rica.

2. I spy silver grommets with brass hardware. As you know, N isn't a valid month code and in 2002 the J plant code would have been used for China.

3. That creed looks awful. The X plant code was used for the Dominican Republic.

Yes it is fake. Besides the things you mentioned, silver grommets with brass hardware are seen on many fakes. The font of the creed is wrong and anything with a J8Y prefix is fake, as far as we know.

I have no recent bags with a snap so I can't check that. I have 2013 factory bags that have the translucent Made in China tag, which includes it in two languages (Chine on the second line). The only 2012 bag I have that doesn't have the place of manufacture on the creed is my new Willis. Its creed starts H1269 and it has the translucent tag with the two languages.

I'm not comfortable with the bag for the same reasons Hyacinth has expressed.

ARe you the buyer or the seller of the bag? If buyer, please post a link or tell us where you purchased.

May I ask where you're located? (I'm hoping you aren't in the Philippines.)
