Good morning - 2:15 am here but I need to do this before I get to bed or I won't be able to sleep.:panic:
I just had a customer request a return because my bag is "fake" and although I do accept returns for any reason - of course I do not want it to be for THAT reason.
Please offer your opinion and information about this item so that hopefully I can assure the buyer
that it is indeed a real Coach.
As always, much appreciated!

Wow! That buyer got the deal of the century!

Yes it's rare and yes it's authentic Coach!

Does she say why she thinks it's fake?

No she did not say why she thought it was. I figured it was just better to let
her find out it is than to get into all the details.
I would not mind getting it back and relisting it, I was very disappointed with the selling
price...lol. but C'est la vie!

Did you hear about ebay's most recent return policy? If a buyer clicks the return button and claims not as described or fake, ebay automatically assumes they are right. The seller has to pay return shipping, give a complete refund including original shipping, and they get a defect on their account.

Oh yes, I am fully aware of that!
THere is not even a moment when you can discuss it with the buyer or with ebay,
its' just wham bam thank you mam!
I am considering changing my policy to NO RETURNS as far as ebay is concerned.
But I would still accept returns and let my buyers know that, I just don't want ebay involved.
By choosing NO RETURNS, the buyer would have to open a "REQUEST" for a return,
which at least gives the seller an opportunity to talk to the buyer.
Here is a clip from a recent return request I opened for a handbag I bought that was not as described....

Jan 26:
You requested a return

Reason for return:
It doesn't match the listing

Comments:
This purse has badly damaged straps, the leather is split right through in 2-3 places on each strap. Pictures were sent to sellers email messages.

Seller return address:

jXXXXXX

Here's what happened
Jan 27:
The seller issued a refund

Refund type:
Full

Refund amount:
$32.65

Reason for closing:
Other

When I made the original request ebay informed me that they had let the seller know I was requesting a return, and I should hear back from them within a couple of days. If I needed ebay to step in after that point they would do so.

So you see, it's better for sellers to NOT take returns!

If you don't take returns, you lose your top rated seller discount.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!
You're right. They have it all figured out.
But why do that do that???
I mean, when someone has an issue why not just let them contact the seller first.
Every problem I have ever had whether real or imagined I was able to
fix IF the buyer just lets me know!

I know! It's like they don't even want the seller to try to appease the buyer after the sale. So even though the buyer has gotten a complete refund, she doesn't trust you at all and probably won't even think about buying from you again. And buyers who know the system can and will abuse it.

I guess it boils down to the money in the end, the TSR discount is worth about $200 a month to me,
and in 11 years I can count on one hand the times a buyer has wrongfully accused me of selling them a fake item. So if you end up paying double shipping for some creep who abuses the system it is still a lot less than the TSR discount. But it's the principle of course, and besides, I believe I give better customer service than ebay ever could!
