Are coach bags sold directly by Amazon authentic? I just purchased one and want to make sure that it's not a fake!

Coach bags are usually not sold "by" Amazon, they're sold by individual sellers THROUGH Amazon. So you can get a fake, especially if the seller doesn't post photos they've taken of the actual bag they're selling, which happens often. You need to be at least as cautious buying Coach items from Amazon as from any other responsible auction site.

Please read Post number One in this thread for the information, photos and format we need for handling authentication requests. Thanks!

Could someone please authenticate this Coach Leatherware bag?
From GW...and it's RED! Early sun making it much more orange than it really is.
Approx. 8"w x 7"h x 3"d. Strap 19.5 to rings.
Early 80's maybe? But I'm having a senior-ita moment about name and style # :)
Any info is always appreciated...thanks in advance!

Hello,

Can someone authenticate this bag?

Item: Vintage Coach 9977 British tan Glove leather top handle bag purse satchel used
Listing number: 381441493576
Seller: beeme2
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Coa...493576?hash=item58cfaf4a48:g:grQAAOSw14xWIu~S

Comments: The inside zip appear to have a greenish patina, but the main zip doesn't. Is this a red flag?

Genuine.

Green coloring on brass isn't a patina, it's called verdigris and it's a destructive surface process that happens to brass, like rust happens to iron, and it needs to be treated or it will spread and also damage or discolor the leather if it hasn't already. HOWEVER, I'm not sure if this one really has it or if it's just a reflection of a green color in the background since the last photo doesn't show the same color. You might want to ask the seller about that.

If it is verdigris, it's not a red flag but it has to be removed carefully. The Rehab and Rescue thread has dozens if not hundreds of posts on the subject.

It's a genuine Collegiate Bag from around 1987 or very early 1988.
