Is this authentic? Was this bag repaired or would Coach have allowed that stitching on the straps to get by its inspectors?

Pucker on the side?

TIA.

There's nothing there that would make me think it wasn't genuine except for the strap, and I don't have any real experience with pre-serial number bags to know what Coach would let slide or what would be culled out by QC. Whateve gets much deeper into vintage than I do.

Thanks. I was also concerned about the pucker on the side but never considered that the strap might have been switched out.

I'll wait for Whateve to see what she says.
I don't see anything that would prove it isn't authentic. In my experience, the pre-serial number bags aren't as good quality as some of the bags that came later. I personally have never seen a mistake like the pucker but I can't say that it didn't happen. One of the rivets for the buckles has been replaced.

If you do business with this seller, you might want to give her a heads up. A seller who has this many Coach items should know or be made aware that in order to prove authenticity, her listings need to include pictures of the creeds of the bags she sells.
Thank you, BeenBurned! Yes, it looks as though this seller doesn't normally include creed photos, so if I buy either bag, I'll be sure to suggest that to her. Thanks again!

I see what looks like a line of ink on the first one in the second picture near the middle. There are a few faint vertical lines on the second one visible in the first picture that might be ink. The black dots on that bag might be mold. The bag looks unnaturally shiny. The edges of the piping are rough. I don't know what causes this as I had a bag in nearly perfect condition that looked like that. I can't remember what I did to fix it, probably treated the edge with edgekote, paint or leather cement. I wonder why the pictures weren't taken on the same background.

I don't think the stains on either bag will come out with a bath and conditioning.
Whateve, thanks so much! I totally missed the possible pen mark on the first bag, so I really appreciate you pointing that out. And thanks as well for your comments on the second bag - much appreciated!

Hmmm, I'll have to think either of these over quite carefully... Again, thanks for sharing your expertise!

This is the type of listing you should be looking at. No ink, great photos. Ask about odors (I didn't read the listing so maybe it is in there).
