Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number.   • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:

BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item

  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.

If the listing has the necessary pictures needed to authenticate the item, it's not necessary to duplicate them.

The info we need is seller ID, item number, title/description of item. Those specifications give members the ability to do searches by seller ID or item number/title to see if the item has already been authenticated and/or to search to see if the seller has been discussed in the past.

1- Genuine but a Companion Flap made in 1998, NOT a Station Bag from the 1980s.

JUST FYI - Many so-called "vintage" Coach bags listed on Etsy were made within the last 20 years and so can't really be described as vintage and don't meet Etsy's guidelines for minimum age. Etsy doesn't know or care, so don't assume that they actually enforce that 20-year age limit or that any handbag you buy through their site meets the generally accepted definition of "vintage" as being 20 years old or more.

2, 3 and 4- genuine AND vintage. Numbers 2 AND 4 are described as "from the 1980s" but #2 is from around 1990-91 and #4 was made in 1995, as was #3.

I'm not comfortable with #1, #2 is fake. #3 is probably fine - I wish I could actually read the creed, but I don't see any problems. #4 looks good.

1. We've discussed this seller before. For the quantity of Coach items she has, she should know that a creed picture is necessary. This style is faked often. We can't authenticate without a creed picture.
2. authentic slim satchel standard probably from the late 70s.
3. authentic and probably from the late 60s/early 70s but you should be aware that there is not a Coach or Bonnie Cashin tag anywhere on it.
4. Another seller who needs to include a legible creed picture. I can't authenticate without it. It isn't a Bonnie Cashin since it would have been made long after she left Coach.
5. Authentic zip top shopper from 1996.

Number 1 is definitely fake, creed and serial fonts and formatting and creed wording are all wrong.

Could someone please authenticate this Coach bag?
From a local thrift...all the white leather is coated in paint or shoe polish...argh, but it was $1, so I'm up for the challenge.
Approx. 11"w x 7"h (middle of zipper) x 3"d. Strap 7.5" to buckles.
2003 Legacy West Small Zoe Hobo #9342, yes? I have one in camel also.
