Hi, new here I need a couple vintage coach bags authenticated please.
COACH Messenger Bag Brown Leather 0974-534.
Bag Depth: 3"
Bag Length: 10.5"
Strap Drop: 22"-25"
Bag Height: 9.5"

Thanks as is said I just joined today so I did not see any earlier posts on this number. So this number is always fake? Can I ask what is wrong with the zipper? I would like to learn how to spot a fake and any info would help. thanks
It is possible the number may have been used on an authentic bag but as they were unique numbers, it would have only been used once. It is a number we've seen on numerous bags, particularly bags copying this style. The authentic bag with this number would probably have been made before this style existed.

On classic bags, Coach pocket zippers go all the way from end to end. Coach used zippers that were the correct length for the pocket. Counterfeiters often used zippers that were too small for the pocket, so they added a frame around the zipper. A Coach bag won't have those leather pieces at each end of the zipper.

On an authentic Willis bag, the pocket takes up the entire back wall of the bag. There are no side edges, since it goes into the side seams, and the pocket can't be lifted out of the bag.

We discussed this same serial number earlier. It is on the fakes list. The inside pocket zipper is wrong. The bag is fake.

I'm pretty sure I saw that listing and if that's the seller I think it is, she has another current fake listing and what appears to be a different fake in her completed listings.

Sellers are responsible for verifying authenticity of their items before listing them.

I posted links to 2 lists of commonly-used fake Coach serial numbers earlier. I recommend that you Save the links that are posted here by clicking on them right from my post and saving the URL of the actual pages. You can't directly copy a link from a Purseforum post after it's been shortened once.

The 0974-534 serial number is on both lists and is always fake.

Also in the fake you have, the word in the creed should be "scarS", not "scar". REAL Coach creeds don't have mis-spelled words or incorrect grammar or punctuation. And "glove tanned" should be two words.

And if anyone needs more proof, here are recent Completed listings and there are AT LEAST SIX FAKE BAGS WITH THAT 0974-534 FAKE SERIAL NUMBER, ALL OF THEM DIFFERENT STYLES.

I rest my case.

It's a Sheridan Lauren Bag, style number 4234 and made in late 1993.

Definitely fake. The lining should never have Cs on it and should be a solid color light chocolate brown, the strap clip isn't shaped correctly and is too small and too thin - compare it to the photos in post # 9783. There should be off-white contrast stitching on one edge of the strap and around the leather front patch, and the Coach logo on the patch isn't using a genuine Coach font. The colors and flowers on the Floral patch on the lower right aren't correct either.

Thank you Hyacinth. I will remember the info on the Cs and lining color. Thank goodness didn't spend to much on it. :woohoo:
