Item: Coach Legacy Medium Studio Flap Fromt Camel Tan Cross body Messenger #9145
Seller: RabbitEarVintage
Link: https://www.etsy.com/listing/247995918/coach-legacy-medium-studio-flap-fromt?ref=favs_view_17
Serial #: J8H-9145

Thank you in advance.

Fake. That's not the correct font for that serial number sequence. There's also a problem with the date.

J8H-, J8Y-, and especially J8P- codes from the last half of the 1990s should always be assumed to be fake unless we can prove they're authentic. And I don't remember that happening recently. The longer we look, the more fakes we find with those prefixes.

And it's NOT 20 years old - another Etsy seller lying about the age of a bag to get around the 20-year age limit for manufactured Etsy items.

There's also a chance that the seller's "Bixby Sling" is fake. There's no visible serial number, nor is a number listed in the description, and there's at least one other possible problem. The pictures aren't clear enough to be absolutely sure but I'd suggest being very careful about buying from Etsy seller " RabbitEarVintage "

BeenBurned might want to take a look at her Dooneys.

Her Dooneys seem authentic but some aren't even close to being vintage (20+) as they're about 10 years old.

Although this isn't as big a deal as listing fakes and violating Etsy "vintage" policy, she also seems to make up names of the colors of her items. Dooney has never used "licorice" as a name for black!

Comments: I'm pretty sure this is the Taft bag.

Seller stands by authenticity but will refund me.
Here are the photos I took:
You ARE absolutely correct. The bag is fake and the serial number is a known and always fake invalid number.
If necessary, refer your seller here: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-sh...enticity-questions-94198-10.html#post15635438

I don't know who she's having it "authenticated" by to dispute your claim but if they come back with anything but fake, they're incompetent.

For other authenticators who may not have see the posts in the ebay forum, it starts here:

BB, all the links are wacky. I think just post locations, dates and post numbers will work better, unless I'm the only person having problems.

There's another fake M4N-4154 on Ebay right now in a completely different style from the Taft, looks like some kind of fake Soho style.

CORRECTION - TWO fakes, one is a briefcase:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-4154-...iefcase-Bag-/262038228197?hash=item3d02b20ce5
That number has never been found in a genuine Coach and I'd bet my bippy that it never will be.

AND ALL THREE HAVE "SCRTCHES" IN THE CREED STATEMENT INCLUDING THE FAKE THAT HI5O BOUGHT !!!

It's tpf. Links within the site never seem to work right. The link to the listing works. The discussion is in the tpf ebay forum in the general answer section. Links to Coach.com aren't working properly either.

OMG I hadn't even caught that! Any advice to how I should respond to seller? Seller says she will attach a letter of authenticity to the dispute to remove the strike.

She can attach letters from the Pope, the Archbishop of Canterbury, and the Dalai Lama for all I care, the bag is STILL a POS FAKE. If she wants to come here and have a debate with me, I'm more than happy to prove her wrong.

You can give her a link to this thread too, starting with your original question
http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-sh...e-before-posting-889527-623.html#post29179640

For starters, Copy & Save ALL of the seller's listing photos NOW before the listing diappears, and save these three as well that I copied and enlarged from her listing - notice the misspelling of "scrtches" in the creed too. Wait for BeenBurned for more advice.

Meanwhile, as always, we don't recommend buying from sellers like uptownfoxfashion who make NO attempt to verify a bag's authenticity even when there's a free-to-use Fashion Discussion forum right on Ebay where she could have done it after she got your complaint, and where she SHOULD have done it before she even listed that fake. There are at least 5 or 6 MAJOR mistakes that prove it's fake beyond any doubt.
