Good evening authenticators, could you authenticate this one for me please?

I bought a "Vintage Legacy Hobo no. 9058" off Etsy and am suspicious of its date of production because of the creed after using the Wayback Machine and searching for this style. This bag also comes sans-hangtag which I didn't mind initially assuming it was authentic because I usually pull the tags off for safe-keeping elsewhere and I mostly care about the functionality of the bag (assuming it's real). Also when I look up the color "Vicuna" which was the closest color to the Etsy bag that I could find on the Wayback, the Etsy bag looks slightly too light to me.

From my understanding, the creed reads:
B= USA
6= 1996
D= April

Meaning, that this bag was made in April of 1996 in the US. However, I used the Wayback Machine to search Coach's website and found the style no. 9058 listed as "new" in 2000. So either I'm misunderstanding the creed, or it means that there's no way this bag could have been produced before 2000, let alone in 1996. I've added a screenshot from the Wayback for reference.

Sadly this seller is "non-refundable" and cancellations are not accepted, and now I'm kicking myself 😢 (If it is counterfeit, does anyone have any advice on what to do? Should I message the seller and ask for a cancellation anyways before they ship it?)

Thank you in advance for your time, assistance, and expertise!!

It's fake. You have a few things wrong. If it had been authentic, the first letter is the month code and the last digit before the dash is the plant code, so the plant code is D, the month code is B which would be February. It is too early for the style but the main thing that makes it fake is the font of the creed number. Even when a seller doesn't allow returns, on etsy and most other reputable sites sellers have to take returns for not as described items. Since it is illegal to sell fakes, even if the seller doesn't specifically state it is authentic, you should get a full refund, including that handling fee. If you don't get satisfaction from the seller or the site, you can try a credit card chargeback.

I purchased this Coach Swing Bag from my local City Mission thrift store for $8.99. It was originally priced at $21.99; I pointed out a few key details to the store manager that had me worried about its authenticity - the signature pattern both inside and outside, the plastic-y feel of the lining, the weird spacing of the word “the” on the Creed patch, the lack of style or production code on the creed patch, the not perfect stitching on creed, the brass O rings having a break - that I think the manager assumed I shared with her in an attempt to get the bag for free. She *****ily stated that $8.99 was the lowest she’d go (so obviously, removing it from the floor wasn’t an option she’s considering), and tbh the hardware does have ‘Coach’ engraved, the leather strap is REALLY nice, and there’s 1941/USA on the creed, so I reasoned to myself that it was my civic duty to buy the bag and sort it out later.
Well I cannot find this exact bag online, anywhere; lots of variations, nothing that looks exactly like it. Lacking any numbers of any kind (I’ve looked extensively in the pockets, at the seams, turned lining inside out, etc) to distinguish well anything further complicated things. I’m asking for help both to ID the specific model of Swing bag (which hopefully will also provide age context) as well as to authenticate it. Thank you in advance!
It's fake. It is illegal to sell fakes so the thrift store should give you your money back.

Thank you very much for your help–I really appreciate the explanation! :smile: The item hasn't shipped since I purchased it last evening, so I requested a refund stating my concerns using Etsy's help button.

It's authentic. I believe it is 5190 envelope portfolio, made in the late 80s.

And could you please take a look at this one too?

Comment: The "M" has me concerned but I did see a previous authentication where it was noted "M" had been used in 1995 for some US made bags. Hoping this is one of those cases.
It's authentic.

The bag is fake and you should return it for a FULL refund. When a seller sends a fake, you as the buyer should be made whole. If the seller balks at a full refund, go to your c.c. company.
