ALL H8L- serial numbers with "US" creeds are fake. I don't think there even was any plant using the L plant code in 1998, There's a very fake red Willis with exactly the same serial number on Ebay.- they BOTH have the same lopsided underscore under the "o" in "No", the same mistake in the padded part of the turnlock, see the photos below of the fake navy blue Etsy bag and the fake red Ebay one..
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Coa...ed-9927-USA-/291560602420?hash=item43e25dbb34

Even more obvious on the blue Etsy fake, the padded area in the leather part of the turnlock tab is the wrong shape, the underflap pocket placement looks off and so does the inside zipped pocket, and the dowel is too thick.

You can try to report it but Etsy isn't very good about removing reported fakes.

Hyacinth, I am so thankful that I have the bag checked out here. Your feedback is very educational and now I have learned one more thing about coach bag. Thank you so so much!! You are wonderful!! You read my mind about reporting fake. I will definitely giving it a try!

Thanks for the detailed reply to my request. Genuine, but odd: I wonder if the chain and ring could have been replaced at some point?

Thank you for the photos. Now I want the other styles too!

Anything's possible. But there's still a chance it's fake, so it might be best to keep looking. There are just too many questions, including the leather texture. Even if it's genuine, it strikes me as being made from "seconds". That mismatched leather texture would probably bug me.

Item: Vintage Coach Leatherware Tan Clutch...
Listing #: 151801618502

Any idea what this bag might be, or if it's even authentic? I can't find it in any of my catalogs, although there is another listing currently on eBay, same bag with a different serial font. It measures roughly 10" x 7" x 3". Turnlock looks fine, no grooves on the back. I've seen a man's clutch somewhere, but it had a removable hand strap. This has nothing for a strap to attach to, unless it maybe went on the ring of the interior zipper? Second guessing myself here, now that I have the bag in my possession. I'll appreciate any comments!
Thanks as always!

Other posters have asked about that one before and we've never been able to find it. From the serial number I can pin it down to some time between 1988 and very early 1994. I've never been able to find a name or number in my files or catalogs, but there are a lot of gaps in both areas.

The closest to it is that newer one from 1997 with the wrist strap, Turnlock Clutch style # 9832, But the two styles aren't very similar except for both having turnlocks. The one you're asking about seems to be completely genuine but we just can't find any information about it. :shrugs:

Here's the 9832 from 1997 but like you can see from the description, it has more features. The older one is just a basic 2-compartment clutch.

The Turnlock Clutch is the one I had seen before. I didn't look far enough into the 90's to find it in the catalogs. I can be happy with an unknown, and am relieved that it looks to be authentic. The seller described it as being worn, but it actually has been used very little, just a few storage issues. It should rehab nicely!

Thank you Hyacinth!

This might help with pictures:
How do I post pictures?

Could someone please authenticate this Coach bag?
from GW online auction...I can't believe I won this one...
Approx. 11"w x 7"h x 2"d. Strap 12" to rings.
I've seen this called a Bridgit on ebay...2008 #11622. Also called 65th anniversary limited edition...is this correct?
Oops...I forgot to take a pic of the Made in China tag sewn into the back pocket...I can take one if needed.
Thanks in advance, as always!
P.S. Did my wristlet from post #9281 get overlooked? Just checking :)
