Hi all - Hoping you can help with this Willis that I purchased impulsively a while ago. I pulled it out of my closet this week while doing some bag sorting and wanted to clean up/swap into for daily use, but have noticed some red flags.

Item: Coach Willis, black with nickel hardware (K8C-9927)
Measures approx. 10.5” wide x 9.5” high from bottom to top of the dowel x 3.5” deep

How obtained: if I remember correctly this was one was locally purchased at a flea market style event. No returns and it’s been a while, I’m stuck with it for better or worse now 🙃

Comments:
Leather feels good but I’ve noticed that the hangtag is off (although that could have been swapped out at some point), the screws holding the strap/handle appear to be in facing the wrong direction (maybe possible someone could have done that accidentally when taking off to clean?), and the creed stamp is light and/or appears quite worn down.
There are extra holes punched in the strap from the last owner but I don’t mind that!

It's fine.

I got this bag on Etsy for my rare and ready for rehab pile. Seller: trunkofjewels
Link: https://www.etsy.com/listing/175609...how_sold_out_detail=1&ref=nla_listing_details
Item: Vintage Coach Black Leather Crossbody Bag style 218 #
I think it's style 9909, Austin Bag. Please and thank you for an authentication.
Seller measurements: Dimensione : 9.5" x 7.5" x 3" strap drop 20"
Comment: Seller says this is from the 1970's. I know that's not accurate. More like 1992.

Not only does the seller have the date wrong but there's a history. In this case, the bag is authentic ---- but.......

One of the reasons we require seller IDs is so members can search the forum for mentions, authentications and history.

And this seller does have a history. This is the most recent post:

Item: vintage Coach bag
Seller: mhellm1988 at mercari

Wow! Before commenting on authenticity of both bags, I have a comment about Poshmark seller serendipityinny.

She needs to be educated about the law surrounding the sale of counterfeit items (or possibly counterfeit items). She needs to understand that unless an item is KNOWN to be authentic or if it isn't known, she needs to find out BEFORE it's legal to sell it.

Her "decorating" the bag with sharpie stars in an attempt to hide the Coach creed and markings and her description that she "embellished yet destroyed any signs of branding which rhymes with POACH," still does NOT make it okay to peddle items that may not be authentic.

Clearly, she believes her item to be fake.

With that said, it turns out that the bag is an authentic City bag, style 9790.

The Mercari bag is authentic also.

Thanks Beenburned! I also thought that it was authentic and wanted to buy it. Unfortunately, someone bought it just two minutes after I posted it here. I should have bought it before posting it :(
