Thank you and be safe!

I don't know whether this is a previously unseen error. @Hyacinth and @whateve might have ideas.

But the bag shown in the ebay listing is definitely authentic and appears to be some type of Chelsea bag.

Off to do a bit of digging.

ETA: No info gleaned from digging!

ETA again!! found it!!

They don't show a picture of the demi but it's similar and smaller similar version of the Turnlock Small Hobo, 9391:

Thank you !!! @BeenBurned @Hyacinth .. I was a bit confused.I should have dud some research on this site.

It's definitely fake, sorry. So far I don't think we've ever seen a genuine US-made Coach with a Z plant code. Z was only used for the Dominican Republic and later, for China. The serial number spacing is also waaaaaay off.
Thank you so much for this clarification! I did think it looked strange and wondered about the Z code. This is very helpful. I really appreciate it.

Hello authenticators ☺️
Would you be so kind to help me with this bag please ?

My sister in law found it in a thrift store last weekend.

Hello authenticators ☺️
Would you be so kind to help me with this bag please ?

My sister in law found it in a thrift store last weekend.

I'm concerned about the silver-color grommets on the strap. Am I seeing the grommet color correctly? A photo of one buckle showing at least 2 strap grommets would help

Are the first 2 photos from a different source as the others? The bag in the first 2 pics seems different somehow.

And is there any way you can get a closer photo of the back of the turnlock? I can't quite see the details of it that I need to see in the second photo, it's just too far from the camera. Thanks!

Something is strange.

Would you please a much closer picture of the back of the female side of the turnlock?

GMTA! In addition to what @Hyacinth pointed out, I'm also seeing a potential problem with other hardware.

Are you sure @MissDorbyFlo that the pictures are all showing the same bag?

Hi! Thanks for answering my post. I'll ask her to send me more and better taken pictures. I haven't seen this purse in person but now that you mentioned it, looks like a different bag in the first two photos. As soon as she sent me what you request I'll reply this post.

Thanks to you 💖

Hi! Thanks for answering my post. Honestly I'm not sure anymore. At first it seem to me like pictures from the same purse but probably you're right. It does look like two different bags. I'm sorry for not having more photos at this moment, I'll ask my sister to send me a few better taken ones.

Thanks ! 💕

Okay, let be transparent here.

1. As shown in the yellow post at the top of every page of this thread, when items are listed online, we want seller IDs and links to listings.

All your requests claim to be from yard sales, thrifts and from sisters or friends. Clearly, at least this one has been an online listing and the rules should have been followed and the source should be stated honestly.

But for the bag you've questioned today, this is the source of picture #1. (None of your other pictures are shown in this listing.)

Here's another listing showing that SAME first picture - Seller on gotrendier: lupiita_de_gal:

BTW, I enlarged and cropped the turnlock under the flap.

OUTSTANDING detective work, BB !!!!!

And the turnlock has the problem I expected.

The differences in the condition of the two bags was also problematic. Like a fifty-thousand-mile-car on the outside and a five-thousand-mile car on the inside.

Your other observation was also fascinating. If you want to discuss this situation privately, just let me and @whateve know.

Okay. I have to say this.

For years (forever?) we in the Coach subforum and authentication thread have been much more lenient than other brand authenticators and will authenticate Facebook listings, sold listings, private sales, yard sales, thrift purchases as well as other online listings. We're also willing to help sellers who want to stay honest and avoid selling fakes and ripping off buyers. Although TPF rules don't allow linking to one's own listings unless there's a question of authenticity from a buyer, we don't require sellers to pay for outside 3rd party professional authentication services just because they're sellers.

We all have outside lives with jobs, families, responsibilities and in general real lives. We're willing to donate our time and expertise and we do so for NO compensation, NO TPF "swag," and often, have to put up with what is perceived as borderline abuses. But we return day after day, week after week, year after year because we want to help. We want to save buyers from wasting hardearned money on fakes and we want to help sellers make sure their items are authentic.

We're willing to help reassure buyers who may think they got fakes but items are actually authentic and we can often advise buyers (or sellers) who've gotten fakes on the steps to take after they've been fooled.

But because we are volunteering our own valuable time and expertise, we don't want to feel taken advantage of or lied to.

We've all seen authentication requests from potential buyers only to see the item snatched out from under the buyer when lurkers saw and bought authenticated items so we've (and I refer to authenticators) have allowed occasional PMs to request authentication to avoid losing out on a purchase.

I'll speak for myself but I'm willing to bet that the other authenticators feel similarly. I/we respectfully ask that requests abide by Vlad's post and if items are listed online, PLEASE include the required information. That includes honest information if a bag/wallet/accessory is in an online listing!

I agree completely.

And I also feel that anyone who abuses that system by providing deliberately misleading information, whether for their own benefit or someone else's, be either blocked from using the authentication service or Sofa King Banned permanently. We're honest with the members and expect the same in return.
