That is a ridiculous price for a hangtag even if it was a genuine one! That seller is trying to fool people who dont know that the Coach stores have silver and gold color tags free for the asking.
I've heard they stopped giving out hangtags unless you have a receipt for your bag. Once ebay started allowing their sale, I'm sure they were flooded with requests.

Hello, Ladies. I'm hoping someone can help me with this bag. I do not know the name of this bag but would like to know if this is genuine. It's not on an auction site like ebay; it's a private sale. Many thanks in advance.

May I have you ladies' expert opinions on this bag?

Item: Red Leather Coach Purse

Listing Number: N/A

Seller: PastMoons

Link: https://www.etsy.com/listing/241799970/red-leather-coach-purse

Comment: Unfortunately the creed number wasn't photographed clearly. I initially thought this looked like a Coach Prairie 9954, yet it was not the same. Does Coach actually have a model like this out there? Should I be alerted about the unmatching black zipper in a red purse, or is this normal for earlier produced bags? Thank you for your kind assistance!

Thanks, BB. I don't know why the interior lining picture won't load.
I appreciate your time in looking at if for me. :smile1:

BB, do happen to know the style name of this bag & when it was sold?

Thanks.
I was able to see enough of the lining in the picture of the creed to know it was right.

The bag is a signature Celeste convertible hobo.

It's a MFF (made for factory) style and your bag was made in January, 2015.

There's no way we can do a complete authentication without a clear readable photo of the creed stamp and serial number.

However, the strap on that bag wasn't made by Coach and there are several other details that concern me very much. There's absolutely NO way I'd recommend buying that without a good creed photo, but I think the photo will just confirm my suspicions.

Some vintage Coaches had dark blue fabric on the zippers but without being able to see a serial number and creed there's no way of knowing how old the bag is - or how old it's pretending to be.

There's also another questionable "Coach" in the seller's listings but we'd also need a creed and serial photo of that one to confirm if it's fake. And I wouldn't recommend buying from seller " PastMoons " on Etsy until she starts showing legible creed and serial photos that we can use to authenticate.

Thank you, Hyacinth, for once again offered your expertise! And thank you for pointing out the strap isn't right. You are absolutely spot on, and I totally missed it... (The metal belt keeper and snap should be big enough hints. LOL) I think I'll just pass this bag. Like you said, there are too many troubling details about it… Thanks again! It is truly wonderful to have authenticators like you watching out for us vintage rookies!
